Christian's build: Water Bar/Kiosk
« on: November 15, 2012, 12:58:53 PM »
Well, I've settled on my entry.

I will scan in a sketch tomorrow... but, it will be a post-apoc "water bar" with a water tower, filtration system, and a couple of little surprises I'll wait and see if I can pull off in time :)

As I'm currently getting into the swing of AC1957, it will be suitably retro-themed.

As to the water theme, I propose to show water in several stages: stagnant and pure; still and in motion.

More on that later...

Thanks, Jim :)

Here is the sketch. Originally I had more of a shanty building in mind, but I think this will look a lot nicer on the table!

The filtration unit behind it will, hopefully, look like this...

... like the hood of a classic car. Again, hopefully!

The mobile water rickshaw thing is secondary. If I finish the rest of it, then that'll top it off for me.

A few things to consider: stagnant water in the water tank, and in the smaller barrels, Purified water going through the filtration unit, and crystal clear water in the glasses and bottles on the table!

Phew!

And, of course, the mascot has a potato for a head.

Very nice idea there Christian. If the water tank is clear you could have some fish in there to keep the mosquitos down!

Lovin' the water bar. Great idea.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Thanks for the ideas and feedback, guys! Made a very tiny bit of progress on this over the weekend. I didn't realise shaping styrene was so tricky! Lol

Well, quick update: my first attempts at home-casting are underway. I've bought some latex rubber and have been smothering my sculpted bits and bobs with it. A time-consuming task, as it is done by applying coats. Unfortunately I purchased first, and did the research later!

The 500ml tub was only $20, but it doesn't have the benefit of just being able to be poured into a tray, like silicone is.

First efforts at what I've casted up to be shown over the weekend!
