I am finally launching myself down the historical wargamer path. Having dabbled with the semi-historical Very British Civil War, and toyed with Dark Ages SAGA, I have decided to embrace the genre fully with a French and Indian War project using the Tomahawks and Muskets rules. My regular gaming buddy, Leon, is a very slow painter, and has little interest in the historical wargaming, and so I have taken it upon myself to paint both sides of the conflict.

This is my first 'tester' model. I have based the paint scheme on the figures on the box of Warlord Games British regulars (although this figure is by redoubt). I have no idea which regiment this is supposed to represent, but as long as it looks cool I am, frankly, not that bothered (Preparing for a sharp intake of breath form the 'true' historic wargamers  :P ).

I will be updating this thread as and when I have finished more figures.

Your comments are most welcome (so long as you don't tell me I have painted it completly wrong  ;) )

Great stuff mate. With the yellow cuffs the can represent a few of the Regiments at the time so it's a great start.

List of the regiments.

Great work, the 44th and 46th iirc wore yellow facings and fought in the F&IW, so no inaccuracy there!

Great work!  If you're anything like me, you will start out not caring what unit it is and just enjoy painting for a while.  Then you see a movie or two, then start to read more on threads about painting different units.  Before you know it you've got an Osprey (historical gateway drug) in your hands and you're finding out the actually history is more amazing than any fluff you've ever read.

So keep painting, he looks great!

just a thought- would the British light infantry have the same colour facing as the regular infantry?

They would normally have their usual regimental facings without any lace  :)

Keep up the good work  8)

Some of the Light Bobs did remove the facings but it varied from unit to unit, even man to man
