Horrorclix Repaints
« on: March 27, 2008, 03:39:35 PM »
A while ago I picked up some of the Wizkids Horrorclix figures.

Thinking of having a go at the game shortly, I started examining the figures, hmmm, paint jobs not very good.... So I took the step of repainting some pre-paints  :D

There are some surprisingly good sculpts lurking underneath those original paintjobs!

Very nice. Tell us how you find the game, I've mostly paid attention to it for the figures as it seemed to have more in common with Heroclix than my preferred Mage Knight. Why they didn't use modified Dungeons rules I'll never know...

Jibbery style oinkery which don't make no damn sense.

I agree with you!

The main problem I find in Clix is not the paintjobs (if there are some model you want to use, just repaint it) but the plastic used: it bends a lot ruining any careful painting you may do on top of it.

I haven't had any issues with paint coming away from the figures. I just paint over the existing paintwork then make sure I give it a good coating of matt varnish when I've finished.

If you have parts that are bent and need straightening then I just use the old, hot water to reposition the offending part then cold to reset it. Seems to work, the knife on the jester was badly bent inwards to begin with.

Nice job Auton. I agree there are some good figures in the Horrorclix line. So far I haven't had a problem with the bendiness yet. But I have repainted mainly only monsters. Though I did replace a bulky bendy sword with a metal reaper sword on a vampire. I just wish the humans/humanoids in the line were 28mm and the sizes were consistent.

Ah, the old scale problem with WizKids stuff, be glad you don't play Heroclix!

Nice repaints. 8)

Nice work!  I've been having an excellent time painting up some carnage bots myself. The range lends itself to VSF very well too!

Great paint work!

The outstanding results with the Horroclix figures you and Audrey have re-painted have given me the encouragement to re-paint my Aliens [ cheers twrchtrwyth!]

Well, sometime in the next decade, at least
