Gladiator Project
« on: January 20, 2013, 02:09:56 PM »
Finally got my Warhammer Gladiator Rules and finished my figures. These should be enough for some games. I just need to build some sort of arena now.

Are those a mix of Foundry and Crusader? I have some I need to do and I think I recognise some of them. Nice painting by the way!

I have been asked to look at an arena for our little group but I have such little space available I was just looking at mdf or hardboard bases perhaps with a low styrene walk to denote the arena edge. 4 300x300mm tiles each with an arena quadrant should be easy enough to store and transport.

I have contemplated all these arena dilemmas myself. I settled for an mdf base built up with wooden sides. Have unfortunately not finished it yet, but here are my efforts, plans and thoughts on the subject.

The 'morituri' look wonderful. Gladiators are yet one project that should be included in the never-ending to-do list   :?  :-[

Not sure though what are "the best" available rules for gladiator gaming, have looked through several in the past but never made any decision. Ideally there should be campaign rules etc extra whatnots included, I think. Any suggestions?

Given the current hype around here, there already are a number of threads covering the "what rules" topic. Just two examples: LINK & LINK. Best to refer to them for further and more focussed discussion. :)

Great work there. I started my gladiators a few days ago and am also having arena dilemmas.
I thought perhaps to have the arena in a flight case that can also house the minis... Still thinking tho.
Good luck with your arena.

Great paint on the minis.

I have slowly begun a little project of my own.  I'm going for a smaller more portable scale.  I'm going to use a large hatbox, tile the bottom and texture the side with some barred gates and windows.  Im basing my idea off this one:

What are peoples thoughts on an MDF style arena if it was available?
