Amongst the Ruins- a Pulp Alley AAR
« on: January 20, 2013, 04:51:57 PM »
I played another great (solo) game of Pulp Alley today - the full report can be found here

but here are a couple of pictures from the action on the Plain of Mismatched Terrain

No dear, they are not toys, they are models

Hey, it looks like that free Follower really came in handy!  :D

Your table set up is really coming together nicely. Every time I see that Anubis statue I ask Mila if she'll order one for me.   lol

Dangerous Delivery can be a thrill-packed scenario. Controlling the Initiative in the last few turns can make such a huge difference.

THANKS for the AAR!

Could you give a synopsis of how the scenario and objectives are generated in the game? Thinking they might be an interesting set of rules if I knew how that portion worked?

Could you give a synopsis of how the scenario and objectives are generated in the game? Thinking they might be an interesting set of rules if I knew how that portion worked?

The rule book has 6 basic scenarios. We either roll for one or just pick what we want to play.

Most of the "basic scenarios" from the book have 5 random plot points.

First, you will roll 1d10 to determine a "type" for each plot point. This will result in something like Treasure, Contraband,  Encounter, and so on.

Next, you'll roll on the appropriate table to generate something more specific. For example, on the Contraband table, you could roll Hijacked Chemicals, Smuggled Gold, a Hidden Bomb, and the like.

Lastly, you'll determine which one will be the Major Plot Point. Based on the players and the scenario this is usually easy to agree on, or randomly selected. After that, you roll to determine how you were drawn in to the scenario (Long Lost Friend, Local Authorities, etc), and what is at stake (Revenge, The Lives of Many, Justice, etc.).

It is all really fast and easy -- and also optional. So there is plenty of room for adding in your own creative elements and story ideas.

I hope that helps.

Looks like another really good game, thanks pauld. I particularly liked this name:

LaTrine is delayed (and no doubt will be a bit flushed when he arrives at the start of turn 2)

Can you show a photo of which figure you used for Heidi Klum?

Heroclix Magdalena - just rebased without anything else and she actually looks better than the picture

the eyes are a bit starey but then again so are mine

When I picked up Pulp Alley I didn't have (and still don't have) a lot of Pulp type metals - the shoe box full of Heroclix I had collected over the years (damn you, ebay) came to the rescue.

Teamed up with some WW2 figs they allowed me to get the game played quickly.

I am a gamer rather than a collector and paint to game.  I have bought some suitable metals but it could be months before they taste the brush.

I think all the click miniatures are great. We busted out some mageknight miniatures on tuesday. Those bitches hadn't seen the light of day in how long. It was neat. I also cringe less when the clix when children are near. No one wants to have to tell a little kid not to touch their toys.

Really like how your terrain is coming along.
It does take time to collect.
Well done AAR, looked like it was a lot of fun.
