Fantastic worlds?
« on: April 01, 2008, 02:15:58 PM »
Maybe I can not see it but I am new here so cut me a little slack please :) but I do not see any discusion on the new and coming Fantastic Worlds or any talk on the Warlord O f Marrs style games, Flash Gordon would also fall into this catagory I think.
I have recently got my hands on some minis for a ERB Warlord of Mars styles game from http://www.bronzeagemin.com/miniatures_html/25MM/SCI-FI/Red%20Men/Dead-Earth-imperials.htm
Anyone point me in the right direction?

Fantastic Worlds? What's that?

I'm sure Marc will be along shortly to point you to every post made about Fantastic Worlds here (he did write the book and I'm sure he saves links to everyone who mentions it).

The best spot for game write-ups for Fantastic Worlds is here...

http://www.rattrapproductions.com/speakeasy/viewforum.php?f=7

Pretty much anything I find on the internet pertaining to a FW game gets linked there at some point. You can also check out the Yahoo Group here...

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/fantasticworldsgame/

There are some exceptional pictures of Tony's Flash Gordon board to be found there, as well as some old pics of my Bronze Age John Carter stuff.

If you have any questions about the game feel free to post them here, or contact me personally!

Thanks,

Marc

Do I need any other rulke book to play this game? I have Gloire and Amazing War Stories and it seems to refer to a core set of rules. If so which ones do I need? :(

Fantastic Worlds is a game unto itself. All you need to play is the core rulebook. All the Rattrap games mix well though. I used archetypes from Amazing War Stories for my alien invasion game I ran at a con recently...

Core Rules Books:
.45 Adventure (Pulp Crime-fighting action).
Gloire (Swashbuckling).
Fantastic Worlds (Pulp Sci-Fi).
Broadsword Adventures (coming soon - Pulp Swords and Sorcery).
All these are stand-alone games that contain all you need to play. They use the same core system but each is a complete game on its own.

Amazing War Stories, The Gargoyle (Death Soldiers of the Jade Hood), Dragon Bones and Super Science Tales are rules and scenario supplements for .45 Adventure.

Under the Black Flag is a Piracy supplement for Gloire.

Thrilling Expeditions is, I'm led to believe, a dinosaur supplement for Gloire, Fantastic Worlds and .45 Adventure (it's quite new and I haven't read it yet).

.... which reminds me, I must get a copy once it's available as a PDF.

Theoretically that would be correct. However, you can download the demo version of the rules and the Special Abilities list from the Speakeasy for free and both should be enough to run Amazing War Stories games.

Sigh, this forum is making me to spend lots of money

Last Sunday, after some weeks of hesitation, I finally decided to buy Future Wars.

I've just received it today, and I've read it entirely after work. And I must say that I really like it !

It seems like this is a stumper for more people than yourself. First of all you cannot upload images to LAF. You have to find another site wether it is your own webhotel or free web publication sites like image shack or whatever they may be called.

Once you've uploaded the image you copy the full url pointing to the pic and slap the img tags arround it like so:
 [img] http://www.adventuregaming.tsome.com/2008_0404_Gandalf_white.jpg[/img.]

N.B!: I put a period after the concluding [img] tag so that it would not be interpreted as a real tag.
