My scifi projects. (updated 30-01-2020)
« on: January 23, 2013, 09:06:58 PM »
I'm working on a No Limits army based loosely on the Reavers from Firefly.

Here are the ones I am currently working on:

The heads are Pig Iron, the arms are GW catachan IG, and a few lizard man arms as well as weapons.  Bodies are GW Chaos.

Here are some earlier ones that I did.  They are GW plastic Goliath's, with chaos heads for the most part.

Some close-ups

Thank you Hupp n at em.  I appreciate your kind words.

Inspired by Tael's Hulk Hounds http://www.the-scythes.com/PROJECTS/HOUNDS/hounds.html, I created some space scavengers.

They are broken down into two groups, Spotters who look for good salvage to grab and to spot potential dangers and Cutters, who do the cutting out or removing the salvage.  Here are some spotters.

Some cutters

A cutter with a "Long Knife" and one with a plasma cutter.

These were made from some plastic Necromundia and some Imperial Guard arms as well as some bits and bobs I had laying around.

Still working on painting the reavers in the first post.  Since I only get to paint on the weekend (and I'm not the fastest painter) it's taking some time.

Here is a shot of some of the painted Hulk Hounds

As you can see I changed their bases.  Skin tones give me fits...

I tried to paint the cutting guards a warning yellow/orange.  I probably should have added warning stripes.

I like best how the knee pads turned out.  I need to read up on some more tutorials on working with Green stuff.  Some of the GS areas aren't as smooth as I would have liked.

Well this crew is ready to go salvage something.

Lovely conversions great PJs. Also just dawned on me that those pig iron kolony rebel heads have great potential for a not Bane from the dark night rises.

Still working on my reavers... I admit, I am a slow painter...

Meanwhile here are some Space Rangers that I got many, many years ago via a trade.  I think, but I am not sure, this was before EM4 got them.  As you can see they are a bubble gum colored plastic.

Here are some of the painted.

Some squad leaders with some minor conversions.  A head swap and a weapon swap.

And a close up

A good job on some otherwise uninspiring plastics!

I'm as done as I'm going to get with my reavers.  I could add a few more layers but, I think I'm going to stop here.  They are good enough for play.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos.  I have a new camera and I'm not quite sure what the problem is.

I remember having the Space Rangers boxed game stocked at one time in the games shop I managed in the early to mid 90's.

I think they were actually quite popular as alternative imperial 'stellar' ( ;)) marines.
