Rusty Robots New Update, Page 6!
« on: January 28, 2013, 10:43:55 AM »
Hi!

I have been obsessing with robots of a few years now and have had a bash at sculpting my own and thought I would post a couple of shots of my progress:

Groupshot

Red Ambassador

Thunderchief

The setting is a planet wide junk pile called the Scrapyard and is populated with several tribes of obsolete robots. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me getting them cast too!

All the best!

Wow, these are so cool! And in my favourite colour too... ;)

Sadly, I doubt I could get into more games (I'm drowning in them already!), but I do think it sounds like a really cool and original idea. I'd be very interested to see a cool little game based on these models. Maybe if it gets a bit more developed, it could be Kick Starter material (assuming you want to take the project quite a bit further, of course)?

They are fun in design and cool in execution -both modelling and painting. Pretty nice job! :)

They look wonderful, very characterful lot.

Do the different factions consist of different types of robots with similar attributes shared between different levels (like all boss robots are stats wise the same etc)?

Great robots, and a cool idea for a game. I could see that selling, actually, if you could market it... maybe with a few plastic robot body types and plug-in weapons and equipment. One body for your big heavy (can take super-sized gun-arms or combat weapons), one body for the little 'barrel' types which can take weapons or tools (can upgrade with long legs for faster movement or spider-legs for crossing obstacles), a 'head' upgrade for seing further and gaining command/comms functions...

Oh, and great robots! I know I said it before but I thought I'd re-emphasise the point.

Very nice indeed!
 :-*

Red Orc's ideas for a modular system sounds like the way to go.
It would make it easier for you, casting-wise, and give the potential punter plenty of options.
Major_Gilbear's Kickstarter option sounds like a winner, just set your start-up level so you cannot end up getting stung and you will also have a solid base of customers in order to expand the range.
Research time, methinks!
 ;)

Good luck if you do decide to go ahead.
 :D

Dug around a bit in your blog (which is wonderful BTW), and found this.

Looks like you have quite a lot developed already?  :)

Realy nice project. I hope to see this grow.
And excelent paintjob. I really like the idea of robots battle it out for the scrap metals. :)

A side note but didnt Grind House Games (the people behind Incursion) start a project something like this but eather canceled it or sold it?

These are very cool and you definately need to get them cast, I would be happy to help you do them in metal but I think there might be better in trollforged resin/ plastic. He usually around on frothers

VERY cool robots and very nicely painted!

One reminds me on the mad robot icon (third from the left in the upper picture) from the ... dunno? was it ... "(new) battlestar galactica"-label? And another one, the "thunderthief" is clearly a very advanced Khadorian Warjack!  :-*

Are the all and completely selfmade? The look gorgious!

best wishes and thanx for sharing!
DK

PS
mind some step-by-step pix? a blog? anything? just more pix!?
best wishes
Drachenklinge
