Radio antenna (multi-scale)
« on: April 05, 2008, 09:04:05 PM »
Not the most glamarous of models, I know

Found a wreck of a towtruck in the thrift store today, 25 cents for it and some other things.

Some cutting to remove it from the wreck, some plasticcard, a base and some paint. Nothing fancy.
In 1/300 its a rather large radioantenna, in 20mm een radioantenna and in 28mm....also a radioantenna. Fits from 1900 to the future. As the top has a magnet in it, the tip is removable and can be replaced with a sattelite dish cluster or a crane or whatever I can think of.

Finished some 1/300 containers as well (left side pic)

Next to a 28mm fig (so sorry, 20mm pics failed)

Nice objective (aka something to blow up) and worthy addition to my bunker, as well as being really universal.

I used to work for a pirate radio station and the antenna was about as high as the 28mm version. The antenna looked completely different though.
But on top of a roof of a 4 storey building a 6 meter antenna with a strong transmitter can reach at least a whole city.
High buildings block the waves though.

CN-9A! Woot woot!

Great work! Only (possible) room for improvement: maybe add some tiny rivets where the girders join up? Everything´s better with rivets!

Thank you gentlemen....and well spotted on the Centurion.

Rivets are a nice thought but for a multiscale piece like this not really feasible. As soon as I do another (if I find the parts for it) I'll make a 20mm/28mm one....WITH rivets.

Duh, of course. That one slipped my attention, and you´re absolutely right on that.

Very spiffy little project. Antennae are incredibly flexible, and you've done a nice job with yours. I do like its fractal nature - it looks good at any scale-resolution. :)

nice rust, too
