You got a chaos dread' and bloodletters cheap?!

Really nice work on those marines by the way.

Thanks. And I am always trawling Ebay for bargains. So sometimes I am really lucky, other times I just get tempted easily.

The Bloodletter cost me £9.50 + postage, so that was a pretty good deal I think.

But even when I buy more expensive stuff I just go to the GW website and see the prices of their new sh... eh stuff and then collector models don't seem so expensive anymore.

Sorry for repeating some of this, but the post below is taken from my blog :)

Before the end of this year I managed to finish a bunch of old school Bloodletters. I was lucky to get these really cheap on Ebay. They already had an ok paintjob, so I decided to give them a touch up on their old paintjob instead of stripping and re-painting. In the end I went pretty far on the touch up and it almost feels like I painted them from basecoat, but I guess the previous paintjob saved me some time and I also used it as a guideline for the looks I wanted.

I think they ended up looking really good and old school!

I chose to base them on round bases since I bought them for my World Eaters forces and if I ever chose to use them for Fantasy gaming I will probably be using them in skirmish and not in ranked up Warhammer style.

Blood for the Blood God!

Skulls for the Skull Throne!

My combined painted World Eaters of Khorne forces.

Even though I never planned to do a larger army for this project it looks like my forces are growing anyway. Next up is an old Bloodthirster, some Chaos Terminators and I have a Chaos Dreadnought too. This will make up a pretty good World Eaters skirmish force and who knows, maybe I run into some more minitures to bulk out the project in years to come.

To end off this post I add a picture from before and after my re-paint. I think they are much better now, but judge for yourself.

Absolutely wonderful, Jonas.
You have certainly taken them to the next level.

In fact, so much so, that I want some for myself, even though I have no plans for actually using them.... 8) 8) 8)

To be honest, I have no idea if these will ever be put to use on the table. Most of the stuff I buy and paint these days are just things I like.

But I do like to build up warbands, armies and such, so I guess some stuff will eventually end up being useful for something and might also be put to good use.

I also often paint models for random encounters and skirmish games too of course.

Nice update on the BL! No matter how many times I see it (or do it), it always surprises me how much an old model can be improved by a more "modern" paint job.

Even though I never planned to do a larger army for this project it looks like my forces are growing anyway.

That's how it works, though, isn't it? It's all part of The Sickness.  :D

Yep, there it is! That's it for sure!  lol

This is one of those moments where I feel like an idiot who doesn't know something EVERYONE else does.

Where do those seed pods come from? I've been hunting for their name for a while and cannot for the life of me find it.

It is something I bought several years ago at Christmas, it was sold for decoration. They used to be very easy to come by, but this Christmas I have not seen them and the previous one I only saw them with lots of glitter on.

So I have no idea what they are usually called or where to get them I am afraid.

Yes, in Denmark miniature morning stars are actually used as festive decorations - the staff and chain is removed for convenience  :o

Are you talking about the cacti on the left Janner? We are talking about the seed pods on the right.

Or are you talking about something completely different?

They are lotus pods!

eBay turns out to be a great source for them. They're not the seed pods (those look more like giant green beans), just the pods.
