Daleks and Cybermen (Updated February 27th)
« on: February 20, 2013, 11:00:28 PM »
Here's the progress so far on the box of plastic Citadel Daleks and Cybermen that I'm painting for a friends birthday present (Thanks Thunderchicken). Now here's hoping he doesn't read this thread before his birthday. The Cybermen have been finished and the Daleks are assembled ready for filling and undercoating tomorrow.

You can read more about this on my blog http://tabletopheroesandvillains.blogspot.ie/

Thanks Scurv and yes they will be played with - what sort of a birthday would it be without a few pints and a game of toy soldiers  lol

I feel sorry for the poor Cybermen - always get their asses handed to them on a plate and everyone prefers the Daleks. I'm rooting for the underdog here  :)

Hope to get the Daleks finished today - if I can force myself to finish the domes on the hulls. 692 done only 336 to go but hey who counting?   :(

Hopefully I'll get pictures up later today

I am going for the daleks.  ;)

Remember that Daleks are like ninjas, and their total power level is the same no matter how many you field.  One on its own is a world-shaking threat, but a battle fleet will be comprised of pepperpots that can't open doors or shoot straight, get confused by blankets thrown over them, and end up pushed down a lift shaft by Roy Castle.  ;D

I like that analogy, hmm ninja Daleks, I wonder  :D

The Daleks are finished so here they are

Dalek Drone

Dalek Engineer

Supreme Dalek

Daleks on parade

Dalek Horde

I also made a box for transporting & storage

A Ferrerro Rocher box with a scanned copy of the original box glued on top

Magnetised for added safety

All packed and ready to go

There are 2 more figures to be painted and then its ready to give to my friend. Hopefully I'll get them finished tomorrow.

I never want to see, let alone paint, another dome on a dalek again (says the bloke with 4 packs of plastic iDaleks lying around somewhere)  :)

The last 2 figures are finished and the present is ready. Finally  :)

First up is the Doctor himself in the guise of (almost) everyones favourite Doctor Tom Baker's 4th Doctor. The miniature is by Black Tree Design and is a great likeness of the actor/character and he even comes with a bag of Jellybabies! Hopefully I did him justice. I would just like to point out that BTD had this item in my hands within 4 days of my ordering it. Thanks very much to whoever sped that order along.

]

And finally, what Dalek army would be complete without the Doctors archnemesis, evil genius, genocidal maniac creator of the Daleks and all round nice guy....Davros. Initially I had resigned myself to using another BTD figure for Davros, but at the last moment Andy over at Aintsy got in touch to say he had one of the original Citadel figures and he sent it to me post haste. Thanks very much for that - and the bonus that came with it  ;) Apologes if the photos aren't that great but its late.

Finally thanks again to Thunderchicken - without whose generosity I wouldn't have had to paint over 1000 little feckin domes  lol
