Greek Mythology Rules
« on: February 22, 2013, 12:15:09 AM »
Does anyone know of any rules that I could use for skirmish fighting Greek Mythology?  I have recently painted some Victrix Hoplites, some skeletons, and have some monsters for them to fight.  I know of the rules that Foundry made, but I heard that they were not that good.  Just wondering if anyone here knows of some good rules, or played the foundry rules.

I wasn't too happy with the Foundry rules either.

You could modify Lord of the Rings if you are desperate, but there is also Labour of the Gods (can't remember the company), and hopefully more to follow in this thread... ;)

Hold out for 7th Voyage from Crooked Dice - they look like they have potential.

Cheers! 7th Voyage is nearly ready to go to the printers. Hard copy will released at Salute, with PDF likely available a bit before that. Included in its 96 pages are profiles for a number of Greek and Arabian Heroes, their supporting cast and all manner of stop motion beasties - with templates to build your own heroes and villains too. Plus six scenarios, a mythic magic system for good measure.

There is also "Labors of the Gods", which is a goalsystem based set of rules. You can download a free sample of the rules and purchase them here.

I'm keen on a little Greek Mythology sideline project also since I have a load of old Citadel beasties in storage. I have earmarked 7th Voyage for the job so I was going to suggest that too. I suspect it will have a lot of character and will, most importantly, be fun. Crooked Dice are producing great stuff and I see no reason to doubt this will be any different.

There was a set called Typhon a few years ago.

But I expect 7th Voyage will be a cracker.

I'm playing HAVOC right now, and it's a nice all-purpose melee skirmish game. I'm planning to play it with Greek Myth models next week, so I'll tell you how it went.

Hi,
we have put the Greek mythology in our fantasy world of Naran.
We use our home version of the Rules of Fantasy Warriors.
Sorry, rules and armies lists are in Italian language only.
Just tomorrow we will be at the show Hobby Model Expo, Novegro (Milan), where there it will be a wargame convention organized by the magazine Dadi & Piombo.
We will present a battle of the Greeks, led by Leonidas, against an army of Orcs. In the ranks of the Greeks there will also be Hercules, Bellerophon on Pegasus and Axena (ake Xena).
Next week will put the images of the battle on our site:

I'll bet the Lord of the Rings game would work for Greek Myth, with the Might and Fate to separate the heroes.  I might have to give that a try...
