I recently made a conversion of King Robert Baratheon, loosely based upon the character's appearance in the HBO series Game Of Thrones. I used the head and cloak of a Warhammer Empire Knight, some parts of the body of a Wars of the Roses Perry Miniatures soldier, and some green stuff. This is how it looks now that it's painted:

Comments and (constructive  ::) ) criticism very much appreciated!

Edit: In case you're wondering why he has a snow base, that's because the figure was based on Robert's appearance when he arrives at Winterfell.  :)

Nice conversion indeed. You might want to paint the wolf's head on the cloak a little more in detail. Just an idea. It would add some more character to the whole model.

Nice work. I did imagine him larger (around the waist especially) having just been introduced to the books but that doesn't detract from the figure!

Agree with Doomhippie re: detail on the wolf cloak. But a great conversion, and I like the colour scheme!

Since I thought it would be easier to have my pictures together in one thread, I decided to continue in this thread with my next A Song of Ice and Fire miniatures. By the way, I forgot to thank you all for your comments - so thank you.  :)

Last week I painted a few Lannister soldiers, and I also converted a Perry WOTR mini to the Hound, using the head and sword of a Warhammer knight and some green stuff. Today I finished painting the Hound. I'm basing these troops loosely around the King's Landing army during the Battle of Blackwater bay, but I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this, since I never finish a complete army and I suppose that will be the case with this project as well.  ::)

Anyway, enough talk, here's some pictures:

This is the complete warband. I apologise for the blurry pic, I never seem to get that right.  :-[

Here's a close-up of some soldiers.

This is the Hound, I stuck an arrow on his base and painted it as one of those burning arrows the Hound finds so scary.

I would very much appreciate your comments!

Cheers,
CyberAlien

Nice little project so far  8)

Just a small suggestion, how about (I know he's already painted) shaving off some of the
Hounds hair near the disfigurement to help emphasise it a bit more.

A lovely conversion and nicely executed. I do agree with Jimbibbly though, the lack of hair on one side would emphasise the facial disfigurement more which is why it is so effective and striking a look in the TV series...
I like the look of your Lannister troops too. Funny, having spent all this time getting my Westerosi bannermen to a stage where I can start painting, I find myself strangely nervous  :?

Yeah, I know that it would look better, but I'm afraid of ruining the paintjob and head if I try to file off some of the hair, so I think I'll leave it as it is. Originally I did intend to sculpt less hair at the scarred side of his face, but at the moment of actually sculpting it, I just forgot to do that...  ::)

OOH! COOL STUFF, Cyber! I like your painting style: both The Hound & King Robert have an abundance of character of the sort only some FINE brushwork can capture. GREAT WORK!
Though I'm not a follower of the series, I will be following your thread & inflict commentary on occasion.

Thank you, DeafNala!

To continue this project, I have recently ordered a few more miniatures for my King's Landing/Lannister bunch.
Firstly, I ordered this dwarf to create Tyrion Lannister (I will need to find a head for a headswap, but firstly I need to see how big the head should be, so I'll wait until the mini arrives):

It's from Denizen miniatures, by the way.

To create the kingsguard, I ordered four of these guardsmen (from New Line miniatures):

And this head pack (from ebob):

I will post further progress here.
