I'm not too sure on the Spanish but I've tackled the English myself, have a look on my blog;

www.stuartsworkbench.blogspot.com

though my focus is 1513 i was limited by the figures which are presently available so i've ued the Perry figures. The uniforms they wear would have been very similar under Henry VII.

Hope that helps

Stuart

This is a subject that has always interested me, but that I never delved into. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Not much, but it's the first thing I've thought of.
It's in Spanish, but if you are really really interested, contact me and I can translate some things :).

I did a conversion of a Perry figure to a Spaniard wearing a distinctive Aragonese helmet... (It's one of the spiral crowned kettle hats from the Mercenaries box, titivated with green stuff... )

Turthfully, apart from a few distinctive helmets like this, I think the rest of the arms and armour would be pretty much the same as for any other Western European forces at this time. You could obviously make your figures more distinctively Iberian through use of heraldry, colours, and so on.

I would add that a google search for the "Pastrana Tapestries' would be worthwhile - an excellent source for Spanish & Portuguese troops of late 15th century.

Couple of images here - brigandines and open faced sallets very much in evidence for the troops.

Best of luck with the armies.
Cheers
Simon.

I have nothing much to offer on this, but I am very interested in what comes of it.  :)

What little I do know is that 15th Century Andalucia was quite diverse in its population. Besides the Moros, there were native Moslems, Christians and Jews, all fighting for the Emir. Presumably a few would be fighting for the Castilians too. Quite a few of the towns have various plaques commemorating this time, but it's hard to distinguish fact from folk myth sometimes.

The Northern Spanish and friends would have looked very different from the Andalucians, although modes of dress would blur the closer to the South you got. Spanish troops in Italy were noted for their 'Moorish' boots, shields and other items, the Jinetes rode 'Moorish style' despite being Christian, so there was some cross-over between cultures.

It should prove an interesting and somewhat diverse project. Good luck!  :)
