"The Guardian of Kazan"
« on: March 15, 2013, 04:18:25 PM »
Late last year, Governor General started a thread on a VSF vehicle based on the film "Wild, Wild, West". Sterling Moose had one of the models and sent it off to me to tinker with. The bottom half was turned into a Walker for his Russians. The top half is now the focus objective for our HotLead Convention VSF game next weekend, "The Guardian of Kazan".

The scenario is that those devious, dastardly, beguiling Russians have developed the latest technology in long range shore batteries, and have placed the new battery on a peninsula which covers all access to a strategic waterway. Think of it as a VSF "Guns of Navarrone". All of the various rival factions have now come togeter (you'll note that I didn't say "ally") to take out this metal monster that spits death on the high seas, try and capture the technology, and or the battery intact, and open the access to the seas. And so, I present Sterling Moose's newest addition to his growing Russian arsenal (and an incredibly simple kit-bash), "The Guardian of Kazan" (or, as the other nations call her, "The B#tch of the Bosporous").

Very nice.  I can see that this is going to send a lot of enemy ships to the bottom.

Does it come with the rock?

Sorry Sterling. The rock outcroppings stay with me. However, thanks to cheap dollar store Christmas decorations, the inside of the turret and barrel glow red when I turn on the lights!

Really nice piece! I can see you all having a lot of fun fighting around that.  :)

Well I JUST started my ship, so fingers crossed that I have it done on time to get in on the game. I think that I will. Looks wonderful Dan. Looking forward to gaming with you this weekend.

Never did get any use out of mine, so far, but nice to see my faith was not unfounded. Not sure I wouldn't stop work on a ship that should have to face that.  ;)

Is there a piccie of the walker I can have a peep at?

I just love that - what a formidable focal point. :-*

I also second the request for a peep at the walker.

Pete, that is gorgeous! Dan, I'm putting together my gunboat now and hopefully will have it at least basically painted for Sunday morning. Looking forward to it!

Two for the price of one  - excellent.

Love the map pinned to the wall of the command deck - nice touch.

Enjoy your game.

Is that for Ridgeway?  Would make short work of those dastardly Fenians!

Thanks gentlemen. Haven't figured out what to do with the wheels yet. I think the naval VSF game could be a real adventure based on some of the designs for ships I've seen.
