VICTUS by Iron Ivan.
« on: March 15, 2013, 08:43:22 PM »
Hi,

Have just stumbled across these on the Iron Ivan site. Does anyone know anything about them? Has anyone actually played them? What are they like?

Cheers,
Ray.

I just played these friday.  Not bad but the rules seemed vague and need some clarification to make sure im playing correctly.

I just got them today, they look awfully complicated for my taste.  I'd sell them to you if you are interested.

Already have them.  The use of latin for everything makes them seem more complicated than they are.  having only played gludus gladiatorius myself they seemed very complex to me as well.  quick and bloody though.

@NickNascati, Ray's first entry dates back to March, so possibly he's got the rules already. ;)
On second note, I've edited out some details from your former post – posting email addresses on the web isn't safe, mate. And please keep offerings to the Bazaar or PM.

Ronin and I had a chance to play them today.  They're...really mediocre by comparison to the others I've played.  As Ronin mentioned, a bunch of rules are vague or not fully flushed out, leaving us to decide a bunch of stuff ourselves.

The rather limited movement makes it a fairly typical gladiator game.  I'd suggest Arena Games before I'd suggest Invictus really.  I'm sure if someone was really fluent in the rules and game perhaps it could be better.  But on first try, nothing to write home about.

I have them (based purely on the Iron Ivan pedegree) put parked the rules as soon as i started testing Blood on the Sands so can't say either way
"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"
