Post-Apocalyptia Autos
« on: March 18, 2013, 10:00:34 AM »
I've been totally inspired by the London zombie board and the fallout collections you amazing people have, and wanted to try my hand at a cheap modelling hobby. Interstate '76 and fallout are dear to my heart.  lol

I found these little 1:56 'box scale' minis in K-Mart for $1 each! I had to have 2 at that price. No guns yet... but maybe. I pushed out their 'windows', undercoated then painted them.

Crispy rust! The rims have retained their shine quite nicely though ;) What's your rust recipe? Any chance for a scale shot with a 1:56 scale miniature next to them?

I paint the base car Colour first,
Then GW vermin fur splotched on
Mix a little orange in for the thicker rust
Touchup with base Colour,
Edge with light "primer"
And drybrush a light sandy dust Colour.

Thanks for compliments, I'll try to grab a 28mm fig.

Cheers for the run-down on your recipe Constable, will be nice to see a pic with a figure, thanks in advance for taking the time and effort for it.

Love them.  :-*

Have to echo everyones comments, superb paint jobs.

As a mini enthusiast can I say that they are notoriously rusty cars. Here on 'mud island' those would pass for a year old lol

GREAT minis!  What's your technique?

I'd hit the rims with another wash of brown and brown/black

Oh ok, you twisted my arm ;)

Here it is with a Heroic 28mm Bretonnian archer. I dont have any other scales/miniatures for you to compare it with. I thought the other cars in the range were too small (especially the land rover!) as they were scaled to the box, but the mini was upscaled quite nice for 28mm i think. Especially for $1!  :D

Cheers
Matt
