Orc Warbands - Heavy foot or Medium foot .

Hi All
   Am Biulding a Orc army , but not sure if i should base my orcs up as medium foot or heavy foot ? for fields of glory/gory

Medium foot Mean that they will be faster on movement and will be less  disrupted on terrain down side is if they fight heavy foot and lose they take a - on morale test and they dont like fighting cav in the open as well ,

heavy foot ,slow moving DONT like  standing in terrain

It looks like i should base my orcs up as medium foot as i dont think orcs would have a great deal of disciplin to keep in close order and move like well drilled troops , how does other set of rules take this into account ?

Might paint up a pike unit that will be classed as heavy foot and the rest as medium .your input on this would be great full

Not familiar with FOG rules but why not Heavy Foot?  Shades of Saruman's creations in Jackson's slightly demented view of LOTR certainly oriented to that level.

... although re-reading those snippets, I'd agree with Glenn and say anything like uruk-hai or black orcs could be heavy foot.

They're like ancient Germans - can be both depending on the tribe.

I also agree that orcs wouldn't have issue moving across broken ground.

Go with MF, as the extra depth means you could use them as HF now and then without giving yourself an advantage (slight as it might be).

Will go with 80% of my army as warband class medium foot and then put in a few black orcs pike blocks heavy foot,
not sure i would feel at home with having a Sarumans army full of heavy foot units marching up the battlefield roman style ! Its not Hollywood gaming at my club not yet !

Von Luck you are spot on about ancient Germans/ Spanish =Orcs thats how i am planning to base them on big battle groups undrilled fast moving unarmoured impact foot with a good sword arm chucked in on top
