Perry WW2 Western Desert vehicles

For those of you wondering whether Perry Mins will produce vehicles for their WW2 Western Desert range, the answer is now on the Perry website : just check out the 'resin workbench' section (some vehicles will also be produced in metal)

Marvellous  !!

so, looking at the comparison shot I grabbed from the net somewhere (John's Toy Soldiers or so, THX), it would appear that it might lean towards the 1/48?

left is WG 1/56 with smaller crew than the 28mm plastics (WG) in the right Tamiya 1/48

or ist it only my weary eyes?

(oh yes, and I notice the 8th Army is already cast...)

It seems daft to me to produce something that so many other companies do!

Although it is very nice  :)

but there will be those that only buy Perry and also those that will not buy from certain others ;D

Be interesting to see there price point on these but lets face it they have just cornered the discerning gamers market for infantry

Given that the Tamiya 1/48 one (no doubt a superb model, given it's Tamiya) appears to be around £15 including P&P, I'm guessing if the Perry one comes in at a few quid less than that, it will sell like hotcakes.

This is great news. It looks like a nice delicate kit and a Mark1 too. Crews are a mouthwatering prospect.

The Tamiya carrier would be colossal compared to the Perry figures which don't tend to suffer from the same scale-fudges as other manufacturers, and the Bolt Action carrier was originally made larger than scale deliberately by Si, back in the pre-Warlord days, to fit figures etc. into. Both (as shown) are Mk2s as well which isn't technically correct for the 8th Army/Western Desert. Probably won't matter to many, but would niggle me like crazy!  :D

I have my doubts about using 28mm figures in the desert campaign.  I think the ranges and much of the terrain is far better served by smaller scales, but they are awfully tempting and I'm not sure if I should stick to maybe one box or pick up the three box set for the extra's ...

Looks absolutely super, I will certainly be having some!  Thanks for the heads-up - I can't say I watch the 'Resins Workbench' setion of the Perry site on a daily basis. :)

I agree that 28mm is big for Western Desert - 15mm, 10mm or 6mm makes more sense for tank battles - but these will do well for small Tobruk actions & that kind of thing.  They are so reminiscent of the Airfix/Matchbox plastics, I'm sure they will sell more than a few to folks who remember those!  (Me included.)

Pay warlord games games workshop price for a universal carrier or pay Perry miniatures price.......I think the choice is obvious, if they went bigger and ever did a panzer iii and crusader iii then warlord can just quit.

Have to say I don't think Warlords stuff is priced much differently to anyone elses. There's is £12.50 for a bren gun carrier and crew.

Seriously?
25 men - £22 warlord
38 men -£18 Perry (averaging £11.84 for 25)
PaK 40 - £18 warlord
PaK 40 - £12 artisan/crusader.
4 model command pack £6 warlord
4 model command pack £5.40 artisan/crusader or 6 model packs from Perry £6.50
Granted vehicles are about the same, but sometimes £1-2 more than competitors, and they still are missing allot of basics and the plastics are no better in price at the moment tank wise.
And then we have £28 for this

Silly price, a truck with a gun.

Warlord are basically games workshop now.
