Or use the typical Marvel-DC solution: the elder watchers from another gloomy dimensions take doc with them and offer him to return to the world if he manages to retreive the Orb of Biggamonsta from the castle of the evil (and neumatic) sorceress Droola (She-Who-Must-Be-Drooled-From-Afar)
