Great work from both entrants and very original, and different, backdrops.

Greetings

I made my vote. And now I will write something about both entries.
First off, thank you for showing us the pics, for showing us what you have painted. But...

the chaos command.. has a great background. What raises my hackles is the loveless display. You see the background colors under the base of the champion on the right rock, and the fellow on the left looks like his base was balancing. To tell a story I would have liked the bases to have a firm stand or perhaps to be covered (partially). I find the bases distracting in this picture.

the cobra command..
has also a problem with the bases. In this picture the bases seem unfinished. The rim has another color (copper? Are these coins?) and a base HQ with computer on solid ground but the minis have earth and rocks as bases ... it destroys the illusion. Here I would have liked either the floor of the computer-parts being the same earthware than the bases (Cobra Cavern base) or the single bases more modern, fitting a computer-room.

But okay, I stop with the background. For both entries I would have like a  closeup of the minis, especially for the Cobra ones.

Neverless those are gorgeous entries and I hope you'll see my comments as constructive critics.

Good luck both of you
Jo

Both entries have their qualities.

The Chaos dudes have lovely detail, while the Cobra folks are very colorful.

Roll the dice...  :)

Another two nice entries. The colour scheme of the chaos models is very nice. The COBRA models are very well done and have a great background! I'd love to see close-ups of both entries. But in the end nobody beats COBRA, except GI JOE that is ;)

I really enjoy the color scheme in the top photo, nice work.

The Cobra Command scene is very cool, crisp painting. Who makes the figures?
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Ha! Sadly, I cannot take credit for the background. It was painted by my wife (Dr.Chimpula as she is known around these parts) for a previous LPL entry a few years ago, The Fellowship Of The Cheese. And yes, that entry did contain actual cheese! What a gal!  :D

As far as getting worked over by Cobra, what can I say. I know James personally and so will contain my venomous revenge to our next personal meeting. That way all of you in computer land will think I'm actually a swell guy... >:D

Very cool. I like both entries and indeed both have a very nice backdrop, albeit entirely different. The Cobra models are very colourful and I love the camo on the ninja. The Chaos models look pleasantly chatic, especially in their purplish surroundings.

Very difficult choice. I went with the Chaos guys - barely - partly because I could make the models better.

Uncle Mike, we meet again sir!  Glad to get this one out of the way early...best of luck with the rest of the League!

For the bases, they are all based on washers, as this is what I use for vitually every model these days.  The rims are painted with the same brown that I use on the top and the lighting may give it a coppery colour but they are all painted.

I had several shots with a matching natural substrate under the bases that gave a more "cave/cavern base" feel to the entry but I was going for more of a Terrordome look with the wall, COBRA symbol and computer terminals, so I ended up going with this shot.  In addition, as I use these figures as one of my regular VUK Cults (Serpent Worshippers, naturally), they are based to match the gaming tables that Uncle Mike and I use.

As for close-ups, I tried to put in a couple of close-ups but I found the individual backgrounds really distracted from the overall look so I decided against them.  I will post a few when the round is over.
