Brilliant. What did you do in the end for the 'dirtying' of the clothes?

thanks !

Weathering is mostly based on drybrush.

First I first applied a brown wash on clothes. Slight wash. It give some "deepness" to the color, not really "dirt".

Then, I applied several drybrushs :

For dust :

1) 50% khaki 50% graveyard earth (dark earth)
2) 50% bronzed flesh 50% graveyard earth (dark earth)

for mud/dirt  :

wetbrush with pure olive drab

For blood :

wetbrush in scarlett red, and then a sepia wash

Here's the last update for today (and probably no new update before sunday) :

As I imagined, it's significantly faster now. The figures are simplier than the first ones (only one shirt, no jacket), and now I know the good paint mixes, the "working" paints on black primer, etc... (it's been a long time since I didn't painted on black undercoat).

To be continued...Maybe tommorow morning, more probably sunday. I hope to finish that first third of my horde during next week (so I can take a break and start my wip fantasy old school adventurers project).

During the next weeks, I will go from one project to another.

Great looking (?) bunch of walkers, and nice skin tones on the zombies.
I'll be watching this thread.

Keep up the good work!

Not that quick, since I didn't made any progress this week  :?

This week end I'm afraid I will not have enough time to progress too !

I can't wait to have some free time to paint some minis. I'd like to start my old school fantasy project too, and continue my scenery work.

Painting started again ! The only good side of my current unemployement, I've got more free time during work days  lol

Basic coating is made on all the remaining zeds of my first group (around +30 figures). As I thought, now it's faster. It should be done wednesday.

I should also receive my plastic survivors at the end of the week. So I'll be able to play my first games soon (if hopefully ATZ can be played with around 30 zeds...).

All basic coats and black lining is done. Now it's time for shading effects (I'll try some woodstain to save some time). The figures will be finished before week end, so I'll be able to start my fantasy project. Next week, to change a bit, I'll will not paint 30 more zeds but some survivors (if I receive my order soon).

Thanks !

I added a coat of woodstain, not bad but not perfect, my stain seems to be a bit defective, it dry sometimes orange  ??? But anyway, here's some pics.

I also mate varnished them. Now it's time for hightlights, then weathering, and the first 30+ zeds will be done. I hope to receive my survivors soon.

The batch is almost done. Here's a preview :

Last things I need to do is weathering, dead eyes, and base drybrush. The minis will be finished tonight.

They look horrible! In a good way, if that can be said about zombies :D That's a really nice horde of zeds, will look good on the gaming board. Next stop the survivors?

Hi,

The first batch of 30 "regular" zombies is finished ! Here's the (bad night light, saturated) pics of them (I'll make better ones when I'll do my batreps this summer). For people discovering this topic, the men are from Studio Miniatures, the women are from Wargames factory. All are from multipart plastic sets.

Next ATZ related projects will be 30 new zeds (with customization/sculpting work this time), and a first squad of survivors (wargames factory minis).

edit : 29 not 30 zeds...OUPS I forget one zed on my desk ! I need to finish it  >:( I think he tried to escape alone...  lol
