[BOX] The Viking's SSS - Sausages, Silence & Survival

I'm participating a challenge to make a box containing an entire game.

My choice of game is SSS - Scavenge Skirmish Survive by Miniature Mojo.

I've always been a fear of near future non-sci-fi (?!) post apocalypse. I see 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy as a major work here.

So. Now on to the project. While I'm waiting for the miniatures to arrive I will speak of the box.

Basically I think I will try to make a sectioner in the middle of the box. An internal lid so to say. This will give me two compartments, which I think might come in handy.

The lower compartment will be filled with orthogonal angled house corners (excuse my English, I cannot express this proper). They will fit into each other and sit in the corners. Like this:



The number of corner here is not absolute, but just to state the concept. I will make enough to game, but none that are too short. The space in the middle will be used for corner debris, that can be stuck onto the corners elladan style.

OK so I couldn't really wait till my miniatures get here, so I rummaged through my lead pile and foudn these:

I think that they'll fit right in. Some of them are a bit military looking but as I'm basing my setting on Sweden it's not really a problem.

I just realised that I have to make a lot of cut down trees. If people have been freezing they'd have cut down some trees and made a bonfire with it for sure, right?!

Other than that things are slow. I'm contemplating a list of what (ideally) I will make.

• A military vehicle for objective
• A frozen lake
• A scene of bestiality of some sort - Dead bodies surrounding stash of some sort that they where fighting over
• A sewer exit (just because I just saw one)
• Some camp tents (pardulon ones I hope)
• One or two houses
• Cut down trees
• Live trees
• A Swedish korv kiosk (a small grill bar)
• Some burned out building corners
• A few cars
• Markers

None of it takes up a lot of space so I really hope to make it all happen.

I have mainly been painting the figures up until now. But it just dawned on me that making the character cards like polaroids would be a nice touch:

Yeah well, I'm actually colourblind to a slight degree... so you might be right. Looks khaki to me. But, I think I'll investigate further.

Most of my vallejo colours no longer have their names on them as they wear off (moisture from hands etc)... so I just try to figure out what's what.

I've decided that the figures I use for the game will occupy nothing more than this:

That's 35 figures (I will of course add more later... being me!)

I need some line of sight blocking terrain and these will be 'winter bushes'. I imagine soaking them in brown and then sprinkling lots of snowflock on top.





This one hardly needs an explanation I think... in Sweden the wood choppers chop wood.

OK and so I've begun doing some scenery pieces that are mainly going to serve as mood setters.



Not a lot of in game effect but hopeful a lot of in game mood setting...
