roads using teddy fur
« on: May 03, 2013, 01:29:10 PM »

teddy fur is a great product to simulate thatch roofs and corn fields too ;)

Great work there! I take it that the roads are just the plain fabric with the fur cut and then burned off? Or did you add extra sand and gravel as well? No additional material to the bottom of the fur?

I recently built a portable playing surface with teddy fur, and the idea of using the stuff to make roads is pretty ace; I will be copying your efforts for sure! 8)

After the comment in another forum telling me that the green around the roads doesn't look right on the gaming mat I've made, I chose another color for the little river and lake that I've made this weekend:

For comparison another shot of the road:

And last not least the lake:

Hope you like them.

I plan to soak the edge from beneath in brown ink as now it's not dark enough for my eye.

I'll keep you informed next week. Sunday is kids day ;)

Best regards

I've never seen this used for roads or water before   :o

I have to say I do like the results and think these two ideas are better than most of the roof ideas.  Neat and one I'll remember.

Those look great. I might have to give this a try. I could use some more roads, rivers & lakes or swamps.
