I love it,
Inspiration must be the great Danny La Rue.

Jaguar Paw was a late 7th century ruler of Calakmul, which places him in the Southern Lowlands. He defeated Tikal along with his allies and vassal states. He was later defeated and sacrificed (apparently) by the son of the king of Tikal he executed.

Pre-conquest Maya history is great! Although the Gringo figures are for 16th C there's probably not too much of a difference between them and late Classic or Terminal Classic Maya. That's what I'd really like to use them for. I seem to recall reading something recently in my attempt to read more about the Colonial period of contemporary Spanish accounts (possibly de Landa) that the Maya of centuries previous would have dressed much the same as many 16th C Maya.

I've checked and apparently there were also a number of other Jaguar Paws or versions of, such as Great Jaguar Paw in Early Classic Tikal. I hadn't realised (as I haven't seen it) that Jaguar Paw was a character in Apocalypto, so sorry for the hijack!  :)

I think that a game just involving Maya from competing cities would be great in addition to the Conquest options. The Hauxtec make a lot of sense for Conquest games. Some Yucatec Maya would be tremendous though!

Oh you lucky people at Partizan! I can't wait to see more of these Ged. Any thoughts on attending  Smoggycon in Middlesborough in November? If you do I will vow now to buy every Maya figure you have available! (don't go too crazy on the release schedule just in case you do decide to go!). That will give me more time to read up on the Conquest too, my Maya knowledge stops at the Terminal Classic! Cheers, Steve.
