Compiled list of more serious post apocalypse?
« on: May 19, 2013, 04:24:14 PM »
Hello, I thought that if we have a thread of the more "comedian" apocalypse that is Fallout we could have another thread that is more about the "serious post apocalypse " like Metro 2033 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

So lets start with creating three lists that consists of 1.Miniatures 2.Vehicles and 3.Terrain.
Also write which scale or size of figures they are designed to be used with.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miniatures

Lead adventure's Postapocalyptic range is good for those more russian apoc stuff, really charasterictic figures with a distinct style. 28mm figures
http://www.lead-adventure.com/index.php?cPath=1

Hasslefree's modern adventures and the modern troopers would really fit in a zombie apocalypse or really, in any apoc game. 28mm figures
http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?category=miniatures~modern-adventurers

Warlord's WW2 range would pretty easily be suitable for some Reds or Reich soldiers from Metro 2033, esspecially the plastic figures. 28mm figures
http://www.warlordgames.com/store/bolt-action.html?___SID=U

MiniatureMojo 28mm scale 'winter' post-apocalypse figures - coats, bags, civillian weapons
http://www.miniaturemojo.co.uk/

Victory force produce a "sci fi esque" range that would fit as Stalkers or military remnants.
http://www.victoryforce.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=VFM&Category_Code=reddredan

TAG's Ultra Modern range (http://www.theassaultgroup.co.uk/store/home.php?cat=40 , 28mm) features quite a lot, from troops with NBC equipment, Russians & Somali Pirates to 'terrorists' and hostages.
Should be quite a few mini that could be used for post apoc settings.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vehicles

Slug Industries (http://slugindustries.wordpress.com/2013/04/14/new-fangled-catalogue/ ) have a nice selection of containers, a RV.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Terrain

Laser cut card's containers and crates would look good in a industrial complex or wasteland, maybe even used as buildings for a settlement or two. 28mm "scale"
http://www.lasercutcard.co.za/

Fenris Games (http://www.fenrisgames.com/shop.html ) have all kinds of street furniture, Dockyard Crane, Sulaco flooring all quite useful.
Also some Humvees.

Tactical-Terrains create laser cut ruins and buildings suitable for postapocalyptic gaming.

They are 'serious' PA genres?

I was basing my project around ''Le temps du loup''...

OK I'll offer up some suggestions for what I'll be using (all 20mm):

Miniatures:

Under Fire Miniatures- Great range of UK style armed police, some useful militia figures with Soviet style weapons.

GW
Dark Future line- long OOP but frequently appear on ebay- great for gangs of Bikers and Punks.

Elhiem- US style police and various figure from their Pulp and Zombie range make excellent survivor types.

Liberation- massive ranges, the armed civilian range is very useful.

Stonewall
- They have the old combat miniatures line with a useful Urban Operation range with rioters, armed civilians.

Irregular- Nice range of police and rioters.

Platoon 20 (carried by East riding miniatures)- small range of armed cibilians.

Terrain (other than all the well know wargames manufacturers):

Dapol- cheap range of plastic building kits, very useful.

Knightwing- a local (to me) railway modelling company, have some great scenic bits including shipping containers.

Pretty much sums up what I've amassed for my own dystopian PA project.

Cheers,

Pete.

If you want to include 15mm, then Khurasan has a nice selection: http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/adventure.html
These two ranges have the most fitting options, but there are other useful bits hidden among some of the other ranges: 15mm Sci Fi Troops (Generic Listing) & 15mm Modern Zombies

All 28mm:

em4 Future Skirmish Scavengers and Savages.  Originally released by Grenadier models, sculpted by Mark Copplestone.
Copplestone Castings Future Wars Scavengers, Partisans.  More models by the same sculptor.  Some are modified versions of his Grenadier figures, as well as several packs in the same style.
Foundry Street Violence - Many of the packs are on the silly end of the spectrum, but some would be suitable for more serious scenarios, including the SWAT teams, and the mercenary and militia packs.

Dude, no 4th category: Rules?

I like Mega Miniatures stuff for my post-apoc games, but what I'm most interested in isn't so much the terrain (Armorcast is the king here, I think) but what I ~AM~ interested in is rules.

I like "Skank: Warlords of the Wastelands 2085" and I like Mutants and Death Ray Guns because it's simple and easy to teach. But what I don't like is that they lack really good campaign rules like Wastelands 3. I also don't particularly care for "order rules" that have squads of so many with NCOs. Just too much upkeep.

So what are the King Sh%t of post-apoc rules?

Regarding Rules: If you can handle the reaction system and tables, Two Hour Wargames "After the Horsemen" is the most gritty, PA-dedicated rule set I've ever encountered.

Pig Iron Productions does some nice scavenger types and futuristic troopers (although the latter are definitely more sci-fi than post-apoc).
