Some may remember the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Eighth Edition starter box: High Elves versus Skaven

Not a bad price really.  I liked the Isle of Blood models, particularly the elves. Would be a good starter set for something like Dragon rampant!

Wonder if this is indicative of plans for the much-touted return of the Specialist Games range?  Repackaging some of the better "old" plastics in a similar fashion?  Bloodbowl got brand-new figures, but their plastics were never great.  You could get away with doing a re-release of Battlefleet Gothic's plastics, and many of the later Epic ones.  Although Hawk's Dropfleet Commander does apply some pressure to do better than the old (albeit still decent) BFG plastics, so maybe not.

I'm very glad to see these figures re-released at a discounted price (i.e., sans rulebook and dice price) - they are lovely figures, and I'm certain they will continue to sell very well.

BFG only got two plastic kits (Imperial and Chaos cruisers). The weapon "panels" were in their own frames though, so they could be used across the other metal ships in the range.

Well sure, but those two kits let you build all of the cruisers, heavy cruisers, and battlecruisers for each fleet, and as you said they were used on some of the battleship kits as well.  If they don't want to do newer, fancier, more versatile BFG sprues the old ones would still be pretty useful if re-released as a neo-Space Fleet style "cruiser clash" boxed game.

The Epic plastics were a lot more varied and numerous, and while they might be able to do even better these days, the later generations sure weren't shabby by any standard.

No, that's certainly true; and re-releasing Epic plastic troops would be great.


Edit: I'd love to see Battle for Skull Pass re-released as well actually... Older models now perhaps, but I really liked them (especially the Gobbos).
