Pretty awesome!  8)

I was immediately reminded of The third Stalker game, which started out in a swampy area. This raft would fit in there perfectly...

Great work: can't wait to see it painted  :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks for all the feedback, people! My main concern was not the weight, but the resistance to corrosion. But then, wood won't last in salt water forever as well, if not treated properly. So I guess I'll go with the "Hey, it's post apoc!" approach and stick to a mostly metal construction. I'll rummage through the materials cupboard for some coffee stirrers, though :)

Daeothar, what do you mean, "painted"? I haven't even started the construction yet. Up to now it's just parts of various kits slapped together with putty ;)

Ooh that looks very workable as a post apoc raft. Here in Australia we have small aluminum Boats called "tinnies" which have small outboard motors on them. The metal isn't flat, but has rectangular grooves through it. The aluminum doesn't rust, but salt does build up and has a white oxidization/buildup in the creases. So you could imagine the metal is aluminum, and paint it as such?

Cheers
Matt

Doh... ::)

And I thought it was pretty much finished already. It certainly looks functional. In a ramshackle way that is... ;)

No, nothing was glued down in that picture. But now it is :)

Need to add more floating barrels, but otherwise, the basic underconstruction is more or less finished. I quite like it, it's almost a shame that the deck will cover everything. I'm currently considering two platforms, one at the bow/prow (cursed online dictionaries never tell which word is appropriate), the other at the stern, both linked with a walkway.

Skander, Anders, I'll happily play on both your tables :)

Jens, you're more than welcome! While Anders can bribe you with a brilliant board, I'll give you any choice of pickled herring. I know which one I would choose ;)

Bow or prow are suitable for the pointy end of a ship(or in the case of your blunt ended raft - the front). The prow is actually the foremost part of the bow above the waterline, but most landsmen and quite a lot of weekend sailors use them without differentiation.

The bow is the pointy end. The prow is the pointiest point of the pointy end.  lol

Ah, I see. Well, here is a picture with a temporary bow puttied to the main body. Mast and cabin are also only temporarily attached.
