Giant for my Copplestone Barbarians
« on: July 02, 2013, 05:10:14 AM »
Well, Mr. Copplestone has some new releases for the Barbarica 15mm line including 2 must-have giants:
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/latest.php
so I thought I'd post my own giant to battle the Hyborian tribes.

He also happens to be the oldest mini I own, from when I was a wee lad playing D&D. I've always been afraid to paint him, as he is a favorite. But, it was time. I hope I did him justice! He was originally intended to be a giant at 25mm, but scale creep and all, I gave him his proper place! Great, great mini...

A few more barbarians here too:

Enjoy!

Among other things, i hope mr Copplestone does a Pict command group (i use command loosely, maybe leaders would be more appropriate), it would add a bit more dimension to the Picts as a faction.

Now i'm tempted by Dux Britarniarum and wondering if some bolt on basic magic cards might be in order!

Yet another trip down Memory Lane; I remember that Big Guy causing untold havoc in several campaigns....Against The Giants notably.  He's a GREAT OLD MINI & your FINE brushwork enhanced the Lad WONDERFULLY...well worth the wait I'd say. VERY WELL DONE!

Some neat painting there. With regards to new releases from Mark, this is from an e-mail a chap on TMP had from Mark

"I have started scuplting again and I have just made 2 Giants and a pack of Northlander Warlords for the 15mm range – cavalry are next followed as soon as possible by Pict Characters and the first of the Romans."

We have the giants and on SD forum there is a pic of a Chief on a great bear, so warlords not far off it seems.

Brilliant. Wanted to wait for the Romans before I dived into this range.  :D

Romans, but not quite as we know them i hope. Just a bit of a twist maybe, or i could just buy some other Romans. Good news about the Picts though, that'll make up a faction for them then.

Awesome! I'm currently painting some Asgard Orcs for use as Trolls in 15mm. I need to get me some of those Copplestone Barbarians, too.

I have that one too but I didn't paint him as well as you did. I think he was an old Ral Partha Fire Giant?

Me too! And the rules! Seems like Mark is semi-retired these days, however judging from output.

Looks great.  :D

Fantastic work on the giant!  I want to pick up some of his 15mm stuff, but I worry he won't complete the ranges.  How do they compare to other 15mm companies?  His dwarfs are fantastic.

I'm looking at using LoTR as a base for rules. But I'm hoping we see a decent release for the Romans, infantry, command and cavalry at the very least.

I'd be very happy if they were a cross between the 9th legion in 'the eagle' and some fantasy inspired Arthurian types.  :D
