"Ghost" miniatures?
« on: July 03, 2013, 01:15:45 PM »
Anyone have pictures of the "Ghost" Miniatures line from Old Glory.
There's precious few pics on their site, but the few I've seen seem pretty good.

I have their complete barbarian range and they are beautiful.  Shocking in fact as my Old Glory historicals do not hold a candle to them.  I believe I have some giants and ice trolls too.  I'd be happy to take pics and post here if you want.

I'll take some pics tomorrow.  I'll do a few with a ruler and maybe a few other figure lines as well as they are "Perry-sized" (not heroic).  They match up very well with Grenadier, Ral Partha and other 25mm ranges.

I have the entire range of ice trolls and giants. I'm sorry to say I'm 15,000km away from them right now so I can't actually be of service with pictures. But I will say they paint up quite nicely and are excellent value for the money but the sculpting and casting don't really stand up with the better companies. That said, I'm quite fond of my set and plan to add duplicates (for conversion) when I get home.

Thanks for that TDD,
It would be nice if they let you know that those were Ghost miniatures, eh? I'll start reading through and comparing item #'s

BigB,
I'd still appreciate any pics you can take also.

I painted up some of their dwarves years ago.  The figures had many casting flaws and a lot of flash.  I also believe the masters had been crushed in the mold-making process, so the figures were somewhat flattened, rather than fully 3-dimensional.   If you can inspect them before buying, they are good as inexpensive rank-and-file, but I would not recommend buying them sight unseen because of their quality and casting problems.

Its a shame as I had a hankering to use their highlanders to flesh out my dwarves but heard much the same thing

Have you contacted Old Glory?  They work hard on customer support and would work with you to get things corrected.

Having said that, my Barbarians, Jottenheim Giants and Ice Trolls were all perfect casts.  But I did pick them up in person at Historicon years ago

I painted a few of the ice trolls for my Jotunheim project and I quite like them (you have to scroll down a bit):

Haven't forgot about the pics.  Just did not get "permission" from my wife that my holiday included hobby time  ;D

As an FYI, I put a ghost miniature warrior up next to both a reaper human and GW human.  I was pleasantly surprised to see they were pretty darn close in size.  I wouldn't be upset mixing them in fact.  My buddy was shocked too.

Here are the pics.  I used a Games Workshop Witchhunter and Hobgoblin Wolfrider for comparison and then added a few other shots at the end:

While they may not be exactly state of the art pieces, the Ghost pieces all seem to have a considerable amount of character...I'm a "character" Fan. The prices are so reasonable that getting an occasional clunker isn't all that tragic. Thanks for all the photos...you've got some OUTSTANDING paint jobs in there, BigB!
