These are coming along very nicely, looking forward to seeing more. Just undercoated my next brits yesterday and will carry on today, and plan on ordering more Bac Ninh figs before christmas.

One quick question, what happened to the buildings, will they be made available?

Thanks gents  :)

They will be but not this year. After Salute probably, they've taken a back burner as more research has been gained.

How many wonderful projects are you working on at the moment James?

Not as many as I used to be  lol

Finally finished the first unit  :D

Got another primed and based ready to go. Might do a set up next week as I'm away this weekend.

cheers

How much difference is there between the standard black/blue uniforms and the summer white uniforms, and what side wore them, would be nice to paint up a unit or two

Bit of a late reply I'm afraid. Not entirely sure there were any white summer uniforms in the Boshin wars, I think it was developed as the army became more standardised.

I've renamed the thread as with the Perry releases for the BIF got me to thinking of a project for this year (and the next, and the next ad infinitum  ;) )...

The British Invasion of Japan!

I'll do a bit of research into it to see if it could've been plausible but I don't mind if it isn't as it's a bloody good excuse for an outing  :D

The first 'new' figure complete for this is one of the Rorkes Drift character figures but given different coloured hair and slightly different clothes.

I've got a couple of these sets and they are a joy to paint. I know the purists won't be happy (not entirely sure myself) as to mixing these with the Perry figures but what the hell  :D

These are the rest of the Brits I've got on the go at the moment and there will be more to follow as this project takes shape  :)

Yes, I'm afraid that is Colour Sergeant Bourne with a head swap  ;D

Lovely paintwork James. I've done a few of those Empress character set figures which Keith very kindly gave me. I think they're amongst Mr Hicks' finest work. Just lovely.
Looks like an interesting project too  :)

Cheers Richard, they are a joy to paint and seeing as I'm not doing Zulu Wars it'll have to do to plonk them here  ;)

Shimonoseki Stockade anyone?

I think John Knox Laughton, naval educator, and later one of the founders of the Naval History course at King's College fought on that.

Thanks chaps  :)

I'm going to base most of the action at Hakodate in Hokaido and start it a little bit before the real Boshin war ended (Dec 1868 most likely).

cheers
