Inspired by Mason's M.O.O.S(E) thread, I'd like to present:

Mi57: Esoteric Response Operations Network
Quote
Mi57 was originally created in 1873 to counter the rise of occult activity within the UK under the name of D57*. Throughout the remainder of the 19th Century and into the early 20th, D57 was primarily an academic group with minimal field work, but as the 1930s progressed, it became more apparent that the Germans and Russians were both investing heavily in occult research and could, some day, need countering. To counteract this, D57 was granted its own budget stream, provided training grounds at Bramshill in Hampshire and changed to become Mi57, with the remit to protect the King’s realm from mystical attack.

Mi57 retained its core researchers, but gained a specially trained team of operatives that can work out in the field to counter any potential threats from other countries. As WW2 started, the Esoteric Response Operations Network (or E.R.O.N for short) was formed as a sub-division of Mi57 to work closely with French, Polish and US occult teams behind enemy lines.

I've chosen to set these ongoing adventures in the late 1930s, early '40s in order to utilise the various monsters and heroes that will be coming from the Achtung! Cthulhu kickstarter. In addition to this, I thought it might be fun to see how much of the pre-written campaigns could be converted to SA missions to show the Allies fight against the various cults springing up during the conflicts. Obviously, games will work in other time periods, but think of this as some sort of TV show WIP :)

* D57 will be covered, eventually, as a force in IHMN.

Currently I'm severely lacking in the terrain department due to living in a small house. We're in the process of moving somewhere larger which will grant me the space to consume the attic as a gaming room (*muahaha*?) and actually have space for a gaming table and storage of stuff... so hopefully I'll be able to start making some bits in the not too distant future. In the mean time, I'll be working my way through the lead and plastic mountain to sort out various bits and pieces that work for this project. This may be slow as I'm mostly concentrating on painting up Zombicide at the moment, but some of the zombies will work well for 1930s suited gentlemen of deathliness.

The first model to join the Adventures of Mi57:E.R.O.N is a villainous Cult leader called Magister Templeton. I’m still working on who or what he is, but he’s been seen lurking around graveyards in Berkshire, raising the dead to terrorise the local populace.

Doh! I just realised that in all that spiel, I forgot to mention where the model came from! He's one of the Demonic Cabal models from Mongoose's Judge Dredd range. All of the models in the cabal set are oddly proportioned, but he's the least affected of the lot as he's just got very large hands ;)

What a great start, EndTransmission!
I love the background, especially making the group have a history that coincides with IHMN, consider that idea well and trully nicked!*
 8) 8)

That Cult Leader-type fella, Magister Templeton, looks great.
Excellent paintwork.
 :-* :-*

If you are after a few figures that will work in that period then send me a PM with your address.
I am sure that I have a few spares that I can pass your way.
(I know I have, as I came across them today during a search for something else. ;))

*(Yet another IHMN Company that I HAVE to do now).

Excellent so far!  The idea of continuity between IHMN and SA is a great one.

Anything inspired by M.O.O.S.E. has a good start  :D

I think I can see this going another stage further still as I am starting a small spy-fi project soon and can see that as a successor to M.O.O.S.(E).

1885 (IHMN). 1925 (SA) and 1955 (7TV)..... ;)

Thanks for the nudge to the little grey cells, EndTransmission.

This is all getting a bit CSI:Miami/NYC/LA. Next we'll have time portals dragging people backwards and forwards between the different settings :D

I'm ashamed to admit that I'd forgotten to take the logical next step of 7TV/7ombieTV, which is odd as I'd planned to try and create stats of mythos creatures for those systems at some point *face/palm*. 7TV would also cope with a pulpy sci-fi mythos adventure.

There is one question I have for you lot about my chosen timeframe though, which may be answered further back in the archives, I've just not had the chance to go trawling yet... Most of the equipment in the books is fine as 1920s weapons will still be in use and things like grenades and SMGs can use existing stats for other weapons. Has anyone already come up with things like LMGs and rocket launchers to step the tech forwards a decade or two?

This is a Crooked Dice Talos that I bought to use in 7th Voyage, but much like the Magister, I've no idea what I'm going to use this for yet, but I'm sure I can use a living statue in an SA mission somewhere..

He was an absolute joy to paint, and easy too. He started with a white undercoat, followed by a few washes of different greys, followed by some weathering powder.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to them sorting out the production version of Argo's Tripod (featured in the new Program guide) as well. That will be a nice model to paint up for more pulpy games

I finally started on some terrain to start my boards. Much like everyone else, the GW Garden of Morr kit seemed like a great starting point for graveyards. There were fewer walls than I was hoping for, but now I've got some examples it shouldn't be too tricky to create some new ones that fit.

A bit of work has removed every single skull and unnecessary spike from these two wall elements. Once the filler has set, I can sand down the new brickwork a bit and start to shape it into better looking bricks. I'm also planning on putting some urns into the archways now that they are devoid of the skulls.
