Dad's Army join Warlord, apparently

I haven't seen this anywhere on the LAF yet but it looks like Warlord are bringing back the Dad's Army boys! I hope they're good, I really do!

That's what I'm hoping. Paul Hicks' stuff is usually top notch. I like the Foundry ones but they're a touch small next to my Artisan, Crusader and Bolt Action stuff. Most of my Bolt Action stuff is the earlier Hick's stuff too. Looking forward to seeing these! They'll be perfect for WWII pulp!

Saw this earlier in the news letter. I really have no need for 'Dads Army' figures but its 'Dads Army' and sculpted by Paul Hicks!

(The plastic USMC look good too. Even though I'm not totally sold on plastic figures yet)

Very good news for Dads Army fans and with Paul designing the miniatures.

Not sold on plastics.

Me neither. I'm glad the Dad's Army stuff will be metal.

And if I read it correctly all characters will be cast in HG uniform and in mufti too.
So a useful few civilian types for VBCW
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

That's what I take from it too. It all sounds very promising. I'll bet it won't be cheap though!

I wonder how many members of the platoon will be in - just the named cast (ending with Sponge) or a few back rankers too?

Will the verger also appear in his Sea Scout uniform?

Will we get Mrs Fox or Mr Blewitt?

So many happy memories.

I take it they will be removing the metal versions of all plastic kits. So the metal USMC will vanish, etc? Shame. To be honest, though, Warlord's style is too much of a fan of muppetish and stupid facial expressions that I can't really get excited by most of the Bolt Action range anymore. Way to ruin a brilliant brand, in my humble opinion.

Still, Paul Hicks still does amazing work when they commission him, so the Dad's Army stuff will be great!

I must admit I'm not overly keen on most of the post-Hicks BAM stuff, though there are a few I've picked up. I'm really glad Paul Hicks is doing these.

I was wondering this too and thought that it might just be the bigger names as they are doing uniforms and civilian versions of the same characters; unless they do two boxes? This could be a big seller so hopefully it won't be a silly price!

Hmmm. So the Perrys 'not Dads Army' range for Foundry, will now be even more unofficial.
Paul, must be an interesting challenge for you to capture the characters as well (or better) than the Foundry version...
Mind you, having painted your 'not Michael Caine as Bromhead' from Empress, if anyone can capture a likeness in 28mm, you can! Good luck  ;)

Hopefully we'll also get a German Submarine (or was it an E-Boat?) Captain with a notebook!  lol

My friend grew up on the series and is looking to add some to his British at a later time. one of the rumors is they may do an expansion book of "what if" World War 2 where the Germans invade the British, not sure how true it is but they are trying to mix up the scope of gaming to explore other possible historical aspects seems interesting.

'Sealion' is going to be in the Blitzkrieg early war Theatre book or that's what they said at the open day
