Mk II Pappis Box Challenge - Vanvlak's catproof
« on: August 05, 2013, 07:35:32 PM »
OK, back to basics.
I'm keeping the wooden box I'd found for Mk I Pappis Box Challenge (MkIPBC).
I'm keeping some of the knights and am considering them as Jaeger.
I need to get some Kaiju done.
I will improve the gaming surface (which I had never photographed) fro MkIPBC.
Will add some scenery (some of which will never fit in the box, but it's too good to miss - I found a highway in a skip this morning) ( :D)
I need to decide what rules to use - might be Kaiju island.

Thinking outside the box:
I built a stretch of overpass - which is even bigger than the one in Pacific Rim, so my jaegers will be able to pass under it, or jump onto it. If I get a hundred ten replies reply to this thread I'll take a pic of wip tomorrow.

I must apologise, mate, only just clocked that you had started a new thread.
And, YES!, I would love to see some pictures.
Please.
 :D

(Thinking outside the box, indeed.... ::)).

OK, so now I have to take a pic...

Definitely thinking outside the box - the overpass will not fit in it, it's just an extra to get me motivated.  :D :D

OOh yes Vanvlak, pictures pretty please!!

How do you plan on getting the overpass into the box? Is that the 'crowning glory' that sits over the top of everything?

As a noob to this get a game system to fit in a cardboard box thing, I found lots of wasted space, and now am trying to squeeze a bit more in.

Cheers
Matt

It won't.
This is an 'extra' which will be a sort of expansion set for the box.
However, with some effort and less laziness I could actually have fitted it in by making it slightly smaller - in fact, I could get 3 or 4 in, if I hadn't packed the box with 11 skyscrapers...

Still work in progress.

A potential jaeger (an Epic scale Knight); a mini-kaiju (an Epic scale Tyranid beastie) and one of the high rise buildings.
The overpass is in the background.

The overpass, full view with 'Jaeger' for size.

Aha!

Pictures!

So, there has been some progress, mate.

Like the block.
What else is in the pipeline?

(A bigger box, perhaps?  ;))

Heh, no.
As I said, the overpass will go in a supplement box.
Had I used a smaller section of trunking cover and fitted the supports with magnets, it would have fitted in the Pappis Box, so that's an idea for a future project. The blocks are still a bit monochrome, but should change.
So, what is to be done?
Block colours (x 14)
Knights/Jaegers (x 6)
Kaiju builds (x 6)
Finishing of tiles for gaming surface (x 9)
Rules?

Supplement Box:
Overpass colours
New overpass sections (x 2)
Other knights/Jaegers and a couple of old Epic superheavies which could fit in the Kaiju picture

Cool restart Vanvlak. Looking forward to seeing it progress.

I'm bot really sure on the scale but could you grab some HO railway cars and people or Z scale? Nothing says "oh no Godzilla" like running people and cars thrown into buildings. They could even be thrown game objects, hahaha.

Cheers
Matt
