Index Ludorum – All things Gladiatorial on LAF
« on: August 15, 2013, 09:57:22 AM »
Since gladiators have become order of the day recently and things tend to disperse all over the place, it's probably convenient to have an instant overview at hand. The following list shall provide such overview of what is available here on the Ancients board. The categories aren't hard and fast, and some threads may cover several aspects at once; hence best check the list of ludi first.

If you want your own project or review (or whatever you think fits the bill) included, please post below. For ease of use we have limited this collection to links dating back to the last year; if you encounter something older worth mentioning or simply missed by accident, please inform us as well.

Finally, please let's keep this to things posted on the LAF. It's no use just to link to model ranges or rulesets which haven't been under review or at least discussed in their own thread here. Threads advertising blogposts are fine as long as they include some kind of teaser (pics, preferably). This is to encourage new content and to make LAF an even better base of profound knowledge and general awesomeness. :)

C&C on the list, proposals for new categories etc are always welcome, of course!

And now, let the games commence!

De Lanistis Illustrissimis
LAFers running their own Ludus

De Amphitheatris Sublimibus
Arenas under construction and in use

De Pugnarum Regulis
Rules for gladiatorial combat

De Venalicio Famoso
Gladiators for sale

De Disceptationibus Diversis

My ludus is one of the oldest and best respected in town.  ;)

Seems like so long ago that I painted these-

Would love to see that continued, perhaps with an AAR? In the meantime, your ludus' been added to the list.

I have absolutely no idea how to run a Ludus but my 9 Foundry Gladiators will make a good startup and I think the idea is cool.

Thanks Mr. Mad Doc Morris.

Pictures soon.

Thanks, Doc. I've got another 15 or so gladiators in the works, plus a mdf laser-cut arena partially assembled. Also I need to get Hicks' new BG sculpts. I'll post soon, I hope.

There is an other ruleset. It is from Two Hour Wargames called "red sand, blue sky". Like all the games from THW you can also play solo.

Yes, true. There are many more rulesets, model ranges etc. worth to be mentioned. There's a paragraph aimed at this, though:

That said, there's a good deal covered in the discussion threads listed above.
