Mars Attacks - pre-production miniature
« on: August 16, 2013, 12:30:53 PM »
Here's the first pre-production miniature for the upcoming Mars Attacks game (28mm scale) painted up, rather nice looking but the painter noted that some things like the teeth and brain need a little work.

Nice painting.

Is this the Mantic game?  I thought that was 15mm so that they could get tanks and robots and huge mutated bugs into it a bit more easily.

This must be something else.  Who is the manufacturer?

the 15mm thing was an old rumour, its going to be 28mm scaled.

This is the 3D print so not sure what material the production run will be in, though I guess that depends on how well the Kickstarter does.

And yes this is the Mantic game.

With Mantic the Rank and File are either going to be hard polystyrene sprues or that weird spin cast plastic (Restic?) stuff they use on their other ranges.

Considering the popularity of Mars Attacks, particularly in America, I can see these being done in hard plastic and not restic.

Interesting.  I had also heard the rumors of 15mm and stopped listening until now.  I've got almost a platoon of late war GIs that would love to have a go at some campy aliens.

I wonder if they had to license this from Topps or Warner Bros

Topps, its based on the gum cards not the film.

Ah, I didn't know if Topps had had to sell the rights to get the movie made.

You guys do realise you can already get 28mm mars attacks figs  http://robjedi.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/ack-ack-aaaaccck-ackk-ack-mars-attacks.html

I'd actually seen those guys on the Flying Frog website when I went to buy some figures from Last night on earth but I remember the description saying they were zombie aliens so I didn't look too close.

I'm very excited about these, I really hope they are not made of PVC though.

Is the painter Adrian Walters? It looks like his work.

Good to see that they went 28mm, not sure on that sculpt though. The head looks too small for that body, the card artwork has them with a more disproportionate head.

Its only a pre-production prototype - the final Miniatures could be quite different.
