and another hello from a new member
« on: May 12, 2008, 06:07:38 PM »
Hi everyone I finally got around to joining after lurking for some time there is an amazing amount of inspiration and information here and I feel this forum has the right mix of seriousness and fun. As to me I've been gaming for  a couple of decades , mostly large scale historical games ancient to colonial, but lately I'm interested in smaller skirmish games and PULP gaming a genre I have been reading since I was a kid , Im also a rabid book collector both military history and fiction so I hope I can contribute to the wealth of information I have found here!

Welcome, Odd Duck

but lately I'm interested in smaller skirmish games and PULP gaming

Me too, though I moved from large scale fantasy rather than historic. I wonder if this is an age thing.

we love large scale colonial too, but I can't imagine no longer painting 300 Ancient Germans, I guess this sort of game is over to me :) otherwise who knows.

300 warriors all dressed and painted differently!!That is a scary thought and then you would have to find some Romans to fight!I still play large games but don't think I'd start a project like that anymore.

You may be right; it may be an age thing.  Years ago I was an avid ACW gamer and painter.  I painted so many that one night I had a nightmare that I was being attacked by hordes of 15mm Yanks and Rebs. I could even feel the pinprick of the tiny little musketballs hitting me!  So I am much happier painting small groups of interesting figures for skirmish/adventure type gaming!!!
