Captured M8 Greyhound - 20mm
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:26:51 AM »
Ein Windhund im Wolfspelz*
*(a greyhound in wolfs clothing - Thanks Chris  :D)

The latest recruit to SS-Kampfgruppe Wotan - captured following an ambush on a US recce unit west of Aachen and following a short spell with the maintainance crew, who overpainted its markings and gave it a quick spray of dunklegelb it was pressed into service by the A.A.Abt. who enjoy its speed and the advantage of "appearing" friendly when spotted by Allied units; although judging from the panzerfaust on it's deck - they clearly hold little faith in its main armament!

The kit is the plastic Italieri M8 Greyhound, with parts of an etched brass detailing set by ExtraTECH and a set of resin wheels by Caliber72. I've added lots of my own details from brass rod - which is sturdier than etch on the gaming table! Figures are from the old Foundry 20mm range (driver) and AB (the vehicle commander - with an old Foundry 20mm head) Stowage is from Goffy & SHQ and sculpted to fit.

this was my entry for the Guild's current Group build "captured" ;)

if i'm honest this pic was my inspiration!

Alright - you are JUST forgiven that abominable bable-fu because of the very nice piece! lol Nice job on the camo. And that stowage is fine, too!

A correct translation would be, btw, "Ein Windhund im Wolfspelz".

Well, erm.. yes it was. It went down to "A Greyhound occupied with dressing a Wolf". And the mental image of that ranges from funny to... awkward.

Excellent model!

I must admit I use babelfish a lot and wonder how long people are laughing for when they read it.

I once read a translated Japanese description of the 88mm as a "wepon capable of disrespecting the enemy with a long length".  :o

Well Jim that translation would either really offend a Japanese business man or he would end up buying you dinner! lol

Really nice paint job - particularly the SS camo.  The detailing is spot on too.  :-*
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....
