Scratch building dilemmas
« on: September 01, 2013, 04:37:20 AM »
I decided to build a WWI 1/56 scale German AV7 tank
Now after searching the net for hours looking for some ideas,
i have seen and found allot of good resources.
Found great pictures of model builds in various scales
good blueprints and histories. I downloaded almost two dozen
model builds for reference. Now the problem i have found
is every builder or model company has their own idea on rivet placement,
or whether the doors and compartments are flush or extruded.
Some models even had different size tracks. I have a big
collection of osprey books and have decided to go with what they have
pictured in their early Panzers book. I'm using a combination of balsa
styrene and real thin wood laminate for the build.
I will post updates on the build.

Thanks

I once built a Sci-Fi version of this tank (now long gone).

I built the core frame from cardboard, building the different sections and then cladding them with plastic card, then glueing the separate components together when I had the very complicated shape.

Good luck with your project. I'll try to find images - but this is one project that was sold on many years ago.

Regards

Tony
