That was very fun! I hadn't finished a human in a year at least and becoming a member of this thread was the incentive I needed!

Now how does one get their names added to the first post?

I believe you are added upon submitting. Perhaps Welf VIII forgot you, I am sure he will add you to the honour roll post-haste :)

Viking Piss head from the old Norse Lager Saga  ;)
That's the SAGA I prefer to play, too.  :D

He looks great mate!  I just started playing with a new way to do lighter skin tones.  Instead of browns to shade, I went with more purples with some red.  Vallejo Violet Red and Black Red instead of darker browns.  I also made a mix of red and purple inks, 50/50, so I can quickly shade troops the same way.  I used it on all of these vikings, but I think it shows up best on my first one on page 38 or so.

Cheers!
Thanks TBC, that's interesting. I'll play around with adding different colors in the washes. What do you use for the base color of your fleshtones?

Right now I use two sets for flesh.

For darker folks I base in brown sand, highlight it with basic skintone and shadow with burnt cadmium red and black lining.  For this I made a wash of the cad red and black 75/25 and lahmian medium of 2:1 to this mixture.  I wash the troops but shade the characters....

For the Northerners with lighter tones I base in Beige Red, highlight in Light Flesh and shadow with Violet Red and Black Red for lines.  For troops here I just did a 50/50 wash of red and purple GW inks I had laying around.

Hope this helps!

And a BIG thank you to everyone for all of the inspiration and tips!

And that's a wrap!
:D

Well done everybody. Lost a bit of momentum somewhere in the middle, but we got there in the end with a sprint finish - hurray!

Some really brilliant entries. Love those Flemings and the Wars of the Roses stand. Well done gents.

We're looking for a suitable badge of honour for all participants. Hopefully available soon...

I've only just looked at my last one on a laptop and I must apologise for the photo. I was trying to take it at night using several light sources and I didn't look too bad on my mobile, it's quite the 'large print' job on the bigger screen. I feel rather guilty that this shoddy entry prevented a more worthy figure getting in.  :(

If you're talking about your 196 entry TBC, I'd say that was pretty damn good!

Cheers mate, but I'm unhappy with how dark the photo came out....  I think it looks awful, as compared to the way others have presented.

I dont have the best equipment, but I do sometimes get decent results like with my first entry.  I kept looking at this last one thinking, "Did I just nab someone's spot here unfairly?"

But thanks for the compliment!

This was a really good order. Some fantastic painting as usual. Unfortunately I didn't quite get my entry finished in time but I really enjoyed watching it unfold anyway.
Next painting club will be announced shortly...  :)
Can't wait for the next one. Fingers crossed for Future Wars, Post Apoc, Fantasy or VSF. I got ton's of unpainted mini's for those genres and could do with a kick up the backside.  :D
