On mine, I just scratched the ripped off stickers off with a fingernail and then took care of the glue with some white spirit. One thing you can do which I found worthwhile is to putty over the screws on both lides of the loco.

Does anyone know if Toys R Us still sells that train, and what scale it would be considered ie. S, HO, etc?
