very unusual basing on the monks but I like it - is it for any reason other than asthaetics?

Great work again Captain

Once again, fabulous entry from your side, Captain! Never seen your painting style before.
The monks are funny either, but I miss an eyecatcher, esp. on the bases.

Not the sligthest chance here.
Nice painting and fantastic scenery, Captain.

These Monks are part of my Monty Phyton army for Warhammer. They act as mounted squires, thus the cav bases. I need one hitting his head with a bible.

Pulper, you should get bonus points just for fielding a Monty Python army!
Brilliant.

Thanks for comments on my pirates, guys :)

I didn't think my painting style was all that different, but maybe it is?
I think I do tend to leave a bit more of the dark undercoat showing through.

This is ironic really, as usually I undercoat in white, then give a dark brown wash, which goes into all the recesses. Then I start painting!

Works for me, although I know not everybody likes the style.

It's not as neat as the 'pure' three (or four, five or six) colour layering method, although the principles are more or less the same.

Both are grand - I love the Monkish progression along the bases  8) :-*
Is it my impression that the barkeep is caught in the middle of a brawl?

Anybody else apart from me think the lead monk is a dead ringer for Brian from KotDT?

I have to agree with you Moriarty, he looks almost spot on.

KotDT = Knights of the Dinner Table
see:

It's actually quite funny, but knowing the rules of some RPG games helps sometimes  ;)
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?
