Tin Man miniatures Barsoomish minis KS

Yet another KS to shake a stick at. Or to pledge for as you prefer. Tin Man's a small operation at present but they are going to expand their line now.

Nice enough greens and concepts, metal minis and they are iconic (read: "busty" in the case of females)! Might've caved in at something even, but shame about the p&p fees... :-I

Honestly scale and style don't appeal to me (I have bought Tin Man figures before) at my pre-retirement stage of life.

I hope they do well, there are some good ideas implied in their write-up but the actual figures will make the difference between success and failure to get the funding.

Gracias,

Glenn

With the withdrawal of the Bronze Age range Tin Man minis are the only 'Barsoomian humans' ones available (Parroom Station / Space:1889 Martians are non-humans) and very good they look
(though slightly converted Raging Heroes  Fantasy (NOT Sci-Fi) Blood Vestals could provide a fitting Maiden Guard for Tin Man Princess Livia).

John is one the few true artists working in miniatures these days and I look forward to seeing what develops with this Kickstarter. I have one of the Wild Ride sets sitting on my desk just waiting for a little extra time to build it. It's an amazing piece.

Best of luck to Tin Man!

Wow, considering what we are seeing in the market today I think that is a pretty strong statement.

Gracias,

Please don't misunderstand me, there are some truly talented sculptors in the industry these days and calling John a true artist has more to do with his personality and way of looking at sculpting than it does as any sort of challenge. There is a balance and grace to his pieces that I often don't find with other sculptors, traits that I believe would be just as successful in larger scale bronzes as they are in pewter. So allow me to soften my strong statement by saying that I respond to his work and that's enough for me.

No hay de qué,

Brian

I really like the Tin Man line and I'm happy to see them adding more figures.

THANKS

Hopefully my comments did not take on a militant or harsh edge because that was not the intent.   :o

Yes, I agree his sculpts don't look like many "Military Miniatures sculpts" (as great as some of them are in many cases) but his work is very... perhaps, organic?   :)  That doesn't seem quite right but is the best I can come up with right now.   :?

BTW, your response made me think of this:  http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=622441 about language and meaning.   :)   lol

Gracias,

Glenn

That's an interesting KS, i bought Tin Man miniatures in the past and they where really well done and nicely casted.
But I wonder if I need more princesses, Plant man and canis are tempting, and for gaming purposes would be cool to include some male figures.
Lets see how evolves, looks promising.

What scale are these normally in?

And by the art comments, what I think some of you are trying to get at is that John has a very good grasp of motion and weight in sculpture. His figures are lively and animated with great poses and good proportion. Well, except for one particular aspect of female anatomy, which he tends to, ah, exaggerate a tad.  ;)

Capturing anatomy is one thing, but a mastery of weight and motion generally indicates some classical training in sculpture.

On average they are just a tad bit taller than my Copplestone and Artizan figures. I'd say the Tim Man scale is a 30mm-32mm range.

Mila uses them for her Venusian Amazons, so the extra height is perfectly fine.

I agree. I can't consider pledging to this until I see some figures I'd actually use in a game. I like scantily-clad, well endowed females as much as the next earthling, but I won't put money down for them. An alternate Carter sculpt or some male Martian warriors would make me reach for my wallet, considering the excellent quality of the other tinman sculpts I have purchased.

I took a comparison picture for you guys, manufacturers from left to right:
wargames foundry, Tin Man, Artizan, Bronce Age, Tin Man, Artizan

They should be around 30mm suit well with the other barsoom like models from Bronze Age, and other retro scifi miniatures like Hydra miniatures for instance (sadly I forgot to rank a Hydra model)
