A little progress.

The engine and transmission parts are assembled and some doohickeys have been glued to the chassis. It is a quite detailed kit as you can see. I think I will paint the engine part before assembly.

I need to make some approximative measurements from various photographs of the IGL 4 because I think I will need to elongate the Albion chassis just a bit to make it look the business. The IGL 4 *is* quite stumpy but the rear twin wheel bogie requires extra space.

I have done some further work on my 1930's lorries, plastic kit conversions which are to become Crossley IGL3s.

I found this rough technical drawing to help me. I *think* it may be of a IGL3 of the type which accompanied the British Expeditionary Force to France in 1940.

The pictures of IGL3s I have from the NWF in the early 30's are all of a much less 'finished'. They lack metal drivers compartment and even glass front window. They are basically just canvas and wood arrangements atop a Crossley chassis. My superstructures will inevitably be the result of lot of guesswork and compromise.

The four wheel Airfix Albion model on which I base the IGL3 is a bit too short to support a four wheel rear bogie. I have made a 'meander' cut to elongate the chassis by about 15mm...

"Ouch! Fucking hell...!" As you can see I am not certified to operate complicated machinery like this.

Being the son of a MD has it advantages, like how to patch myself up in a sanitary, professional way.

Anyway, the meander cut and fitted insert makes for a better bond, which has been further strengthened by plastic strips one the inside of the chassis.

I noticed the suspension ends up too far back and had to be cut off and moved forward about 7 mms. Thin strips are added on top of the chassis just to set the beds a tad higher. Next the beds are built from 1mm v-grove profile plasticard. Various cross pieces and metal hinges and such will be added later.

Beds mounted.

It only hurts when I laugh.

Yes, I ment to build two but got a third set for spares. Then I realized I can easily scratch build the parts I needed. Now I am thinking I should turn one into an early type radio truck. I was considering turning one into a burnt out rusty wreck, as a terrain piece, but that requires a lot of work.

Really clean, nice conversions (other than the required blood sacrifices to local gods - be glad that you are not an Aztec priest!). I admire the technique and your tool base. Now just remember, as the US Navy (or at least NAVFAC) says "Safety First".

Not sure SAN Miguel and sharp knives make the best bedfellows  lol

But this is looking like a cracking collection and those vehicles are beautifully done.
