Father and Daughter game – Eli’s Pulp Alley AAR
« on: September 24, 2013, 04:48:36 AM »
Here’s a link to a Pulp Alley AAR posted on Eli’s “I See Lead People” blog. Maybe not every miniature is painted, but I think it is still well worth checking out for several reasons   :D  -- http://leadpeople.blogspot.com/

Great fun had by all!

Did you make the terrain, or is it aquarium type? It looks really good.

The rock formations are hand made from insulation styro with the details made using a bread knife.

My best advise for getting the kids in - PANDER.

Let the kids play leagues that sing to them, even if you have to bend your more classical or personal views of what Pulp "is". In our case my daughter went with a superheroine and a couple of Spyfi figs. While not exactly pulp, I at least made sure the weapons they carried fit the time, even if their costumes were a bit disco. Now, my daughter has a small league of three miniatures that she can manage and really get into.

When we get around to painting them, I'll maneuver her toward at least painting them in more pulpy colors.

It also doesn't hurt to get them into making terrain with you. Not only does it feel like arts and crafts time, but when they know it serves a purpose, they tend to want to see it fulfill that purpose.

It looks like a fun game, and a great way to introduce the next generation into the joys of gaming. Well done!  :)

Eli,
Thank you for the excellent tips.
I've had the girls helping me with terrain for a while now. They are dry brush wizards.
Also, I have been teaching them to paint on the Reaper bones minis.  :D

You are very welcome.

I wish my oldest was interested in Pulp Alley, but she prefers RPGs.

We've been playing Pulp Alley games that are a little more RPG like. I'd like to see it develop into a full RPG game as well. :)
