Fenian Steam Tanks
« on: May 21, 2008, 01:36:14 AM »
While we wait for Sir Tas to get things squared away I thought I'd post a picture of the Fenian Steam hover tanks I did as part of the Yours in a White Wine Sauce Around the World in 80 models competition.

The main body is a heavily modified Nutrocker tank from Nitto models. The turreted Tesla guns are from Gear Krieg. The bases are a field expedient for a recent game and I hope to get something better done soon.

More pictures and a bit of history here:

Thanks,

Mike

Vary, very nice Mike. What did you use for the boilers and turrets?

Thanks guys.

The turret is part of the Tesla gun kit and is a Gear Krieg piece. I made the boilers out of some cannons from a pirate playset, a pencil and the drive wheel gears from a tank model. The piping is a model railroad piece.

So far, so good. They've seen three engagements against the Hun. As they were experimental to begin with I gave them low sustain and start rolls in the first battle (Sustain 7, Start 5). One never showed up and the two that started on the board had all they could handle to just get away from the Prussians after finding themselves to be the major objective.

After a little experience I raised the performance numbers. In the last engagement they held themselves very well, inflicting heavy casualties and fairly well rolling up one of the Prussians flanks without taking anything in the way of serious damage.

The tesla guns are an excellent addition, although I would have expected some gnome scouts by now! lol ;)

I won't tell you then. :)

I've had five of them I got at a flea market sitting on the shelf waiting to be converted into Hammer's Slammers Combat cars for several years. The remaining two may still see that happen.
