Hildalgo Fire
« on: October 18, 2013, 07:28:05 PM »
Here a few few pictures from the opening game in my Pulp Alley - Perilous Island Campaign

As usual the camera only came out afterwards - I prefer to enjoy the game and not stop the action to take notes and photos - but here are a few picture notes.

The Beginning

Lady Elaine Darrow must be found deep in the heart of the Mexican Egyptian desert where she works busily to uncover an ancient temple .  Only with her help can Lord Darrow's whereabouts be learned.

Lord Elpus and his team have the best of intentions but the shadowy form of Colonel Sebastian Moran can only be interested for baser reasons.

Fresh from the flesh pots of Cairo he arrives at the site and curses  ... Elpus and his companions are already here, damn.

This will be a fight and not the easy abduction he envisaged.

A roll on the Scenario Events table sees all perilous areas as Extremely Perilous and one of Elpus's crew delayed for 1 turn.  Al Dente decides to be fashionably late.

Spread out among the ruins both leagues check their firearms and set out to follow their leaders orders.

Elpus and his league take the cautious approach and seek cover (even though it may cost them when they move out of the ruins) while the dastardly Moran and his band head straight for the plot points throwing caution to the desert wind.

The Game's Afoot (well, 3 foot by 3 foot, if we are being strictly accurate)

Liliy Marlene and Helmut Rasch head for U'bunyu, Lady Elaine's faithful Ngoni guide, and maybe there is something useful in the luggage stacked behind the tent.

Moran and Elpus take the measure of each other while Dr. Farooka (aka the Black Spot) moves cautiously up to the edge of camp.  He spies something behind the open tent flap that catches his interest.

Both sides decide that plot is more important than action so try their skills at unlocking answers from the clues that lay before them.

"After you" says Lord Elpus

"Up yours" says Dr. Farooka

"Something Sphinx round here" lisps Elaine

Allies and followers trade shots and eventually it ends in a draw, 1 minor plot point each.  Sal Minella and Pulp Girl sorry, I mean Lily Marlene, swap the Major Plot point between them until Elaine breaks free of both on the last turn.

This picture has been censored and Sal's lifeless body airbrushed out to avoid upsetting any nervous readers

... OK, I forgot to put her in the picture when I took the photo later  ;D

and here we salute the dead ones

don't worry the pint had a miraculous recovery and was soon filled with beer life once more

As always, fabulous fun.

It's awesome seeing other players go through the Perilous Island campaign scenarios. We just finished up the full campaign and it was amazing!  :D

Pauld,

One of the things that I do with all of the rules that I use is to add a step in the "End of Turn" section . . . "Take Photos".

It is surprising how often this helps us to recall and snap a few pictures . . . of course we sometimes miss it too . . . but it does help.

Enjoyed your account, sir.  Especially the player quotes.

I MUST consider adding that rule to my games too.  :D  ;D

A pretty good advice.

Hi Pauld
Sorry only just seen this, looks good. Seems to have been a fun game.

Like your tiles - I have searched the local B and Q and Wikes but not found any suitable, yours look good, where did you get them from.  ::)
Take care

B and Q but a good few months ago - but they may have been these ones and are still on their web store pages

good luck finding them - they are very useful and very cheap
