Gwenaelles EotD Requiem - Update 27th Jan. Opium?
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:09:16 PM »
I recently received a couple of boxes of Requiem Kickstarter stuff from Westwind as I had been asked to paint some and I am going to post them all here as I go along in the hope you lot can keep me focused and motivated
First up was a Hansom, this took about three times longer than I anticipated and to be honest I would prefer it without the luggage and passengers

then I did Iron Head Ned as he was straightforward and I wanted to see something else finished quickly

the last two so far are the first armed members of the R.C. church (that's Refuse Collection not Roman Catholic)

Lovely work :-* :-* :-*
I take it you had to leave the passengers in for Westwind. But they are separate pieces?

Colin, they are for a LAFer who had their pledges sent direct to me not WW.

The passengers are cast into the resin block that is the carriage body.  They looked eerily undead, especially before I puttied a few holes, before painted.

Very nicely done.   :)

Any chance I could bother you for a pic of the underside of the carriage.  I am still figuring out the assembly on mine, and can't find a clear pic anywhere.

thanks.

One pair of my hansom cab's passengers are bad. Haven't looked at the other 3 yet.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Ditto

Fortunately I ordered the 4 pack, as I noticed something on another cab that I didn't see on the first one I tried to assemble and caused me some confusion.  Some of the holes were missing, there should be three holes under the cab, rear side, under the passengers. Two for the axle and one for the spring unit I believe.

I also noticed that there where two baggage variants, so that's nice.

The passengers remind me of Disneys haunted house ride.

Great job on the Hansom Cab.  I especially like the horse and horse collar, both the painting and the sculpting. Sounds like some careful dremmel work is in the future though when I get this model to remove the passengers.

Disney's Haunted House ride - that's pretty much spot on.

Whether it is right or not I did as described above.  Three holes under the back, two in line and take the axle bit so that's right and then that just leaves the third hole which is central so I put the spring piece in there running the same way as the axle.  I did not use a second reign guide piece, just the one cab roof front. I took the other to be a spare as it was moulded onto a different sprue and one was slightly mis-cast.  On the whole the casting was very good, I had more trouble as my usual glue of choice just did not want to bond the resin to metal.

cheers  Svennn
