Tavern Brawl at Fall-In
« on: November 13, 2006, 01:23:42 PM »
I was a little worried when I got to the show on Friday. The hall was not exactly crowded...

But I set up anyway.

But fortunately lots of people showed up to play. Here are the models I used for the game:

Here are the Friday morning players:

Don Armando is in trouble! A tavern patron knocks him down with a thrown bench.

An in-progress shot from Saturday morning's game.

And Saturday morning's players:

The Marquis de la Rochefoucaulde escorts a terrified nobleman towards an exit, but is beset by rowdy commoners!

The Marquis is undaunted. He hurls them backwards, skewering three of them and leaving the other two with leg wounds.

And the players from the Brigade Games demo, including the notorious Don Juan Squint de Mexico and three of the heirs of the Margrave von Weiss:

Thanks muchly to Chris V for taking copious, excellent pictures, because I kept forgetting to do so!

Very nice pictures.
I dont have Gloire yet.
Are the Poker Chips useful and important for the game ?
For what do you use them ?
I have a special pokerchip offer in our Store here and would buy them if you tell me Go Björn

The poker chips are a quick way to mark wounds on the Grade 1 models.

Grade 1 models can take 1 hit to the head or torso before they're out. They can take 2 wounds to the arms or 2 wounds to the legs before they're out (for this game, anyway.) So instead of having a blank character sheet for each Brawling Patron, I use one sheet for all Brawling Patrons and the chips tell me where they're wounded: red for arms, blue for legs.

This quick bookkeeping trick was invented for .45 Adventures by Patrick Connor, and is called the "Hordes of Mooks/Hordes of Minions" system. It's explained in Gloire, and Rich has a handout download on it on the Rattrap site.

edit: You don't have to use poker chips, either. You could use anything. I just have these chips and they work well.

No, in reality I'm 6' 4" tall, and weigh 180 pounds. My skin is the color of bronze and my hair like beaten gold. When I flex my shoulders, I can rip my shirt. People call me "the man of bronze."

Yes, that's me. My blue shirt actually says "Gloire" on it. Mo printed them up for me and they're really nice. I also got a haircut so I look less dumb today.

It was a great time! I was a French swordswoman (Pete said I didn't have to shave my shapely - yet short and stumpy - legs) in one game and a hapless bouncer in another.

I've just cleaned the first 15 musketeer figures (not so many musketeers, lots of babes-with-swords) for painting next.

I'm not sure about the green shirt I'm wearing in the photo. It wasn't nearly so vivid in the catalogue --

those kids are mine - Logan and Brennan (aka Brigade Games stockpicker #1 and 2) and that demo table is right across from my booth. Too bad you can't see me and my magnificent bald orb.

Thank goodness for that Lon, otherwise the photo may not have turned out
Best wishes,

Aha! We've met, Pete! True to God, we have. At Historicon or Cold Wars a few years ago.

We did not call you "the man of bronze". We called you "that guy there in the blue shirt".

Great stuff, I never realised that US shows were more for gaming than shopping and demos :) . The same hobby but from different angles

You can even see me in the Friday Morning Players picture.  I am the chap in the light green shirt and handsome beard looking the business moving little models around.

It's both. And a lo-hot of it. At Historicon it is actually a bit hard to get an overview of all the activities.
