FIW...Project Now with Pictures - The British
« on: 22 October 2013, 06:59:23 PM »
I blame Paleskin and No Name Ramierez ;D (gutted as sold off all my indians and french last year :'( ..but needs must at the time)

So I hae the northstar indians winging their way to me and some Galloping Major Provincials.

Muskets and Tomahawks on its way too.

Now as usual looking to expand,

I fancy the Redoubt Highlanders (ike the look of them) as conquest will be too small to fit. Northstar look ok but something doesnt quite hit the button for me, I thnk it may be because I fancy units in march attack for the ambush factor ;D...Is it worth taking a punt on the Perry highlanders? I know AWI but look close enough, would they be too small to go with Northstar?

For Regular Brits possibly Crusader as I think the Redoubt are big and chunky from memory.

What are the Blue Moon ones like I have only ever seen their enamel! painted ones, never any in a persons collection

Anyone out there worth considering as now I flogged all my conquest minis dont fancy trying to match again unless the Conquest are good to go with northstar minis

Thanks all in advance from a lasped lead addict :D

If you fancy the Crusader Brits and French I have the unbased and unplanted lead  ;)

I've also got a fair bit of surplus painted stuff - including conquest Indians and French irregulars - as I've moved onto other things .....  :D Painting quality of some of it is a bit iffy as it was my early period  lol
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Certainly interested in the unpainted Crusader Brits mate  :D  Let me know what you have and we could sort out your lead pile ;)

I will alert Paleskin to the froggie types however warning he is the equivalent to a Bazaar merchant when it comes to the haggle ;)

I'm certainly going to go with Perrys Highlanders for my FIW, over Old Glory (bit grim and slight) Northstar (I don't need 30 odd for M&T) and Galloping Major (close call but don't want cocked bonnets, and didn't like the mounted officer's horse); they are certainly close enough to FIW uniforms, and indistinguishable if you paint 'em right. I would go with the ones with the plain "floppy" bonnets though, rather than the cocked versions.

Actually took photos, started last October but just edging past a basic game level, still another 72 regulars and around 20 indians to finish ;D megalomania :D

The temptation is to buy more and have eyes on the non-unformed galloping major milita, however I have another 72 Brits to paint, no longer a skirmish force really....to my shame :D
